The BLT-S450Q is a metal additive manufacturing machine designed for the needs of multiple industries. The model is available in three variants with different capacities: with a single, dual, or quadruple laser construction. The other two, the original S450 and S450T respectively, are varied in terms of their build speed and build volume dimensions.

The machine supports a wide range of metal powders and is able to produce strong high-quality parts with an impressive build speed of 100 cm³/h, which is quadrupled compared to the original version. Apart from an industry-grade build volume, the BLT-S450Q is equipped with a precise optical system capable of scanning with the speed of up to 7 m/s, robust construction, and manifold useful features, such as a self-diagnosis functionality, powdering quality and storage control, intelligent height check on parts, real-time advanced monitoring, variable speed recoating, oxygen content control, working state maintenance in case of power outages, and multiple protection mechanisms for production safety.

The BLT-S450Q AM machine comes with a smart software pack that features full process traceability and real-time monitoring. The optional configuration provides not only progressive 3D reconstruction features and 3rd party interconnection for the BLT-MCS module, but also a product line managing software — BLT-MES system. It enables accessible equipment and energy monitoring along with parts circulation, intelligent ordering, warehouse management, and statistical reports.

Print quality

The BLT-S450Q AM machine can sinter layers with a minimum thickness of 20 microns, which lets you produce solid metal parts with smooth exterior surfaces. It is equipped with four 500W lasers and precise F-theta lens making for high accuracy and detail of your final printouts.

Additionally, the machine is built from robust high-end components, which ensure stable and reliable sintering. Due to the upgraded powder supply system, the printing efficiency as well as powder-saving are significantly improved compared to the company’s previous devices.

The S450Q model supports Titanium Alloy, Aluminum, High-temperature Alloy, Stainless Steel, High-strength Steel, and Tool Steel, which completely meet the requirements of aviation, aerospace, electronics, engineering, medical, and other major industrial spheres.

Build volume

The BLT-S450Q 3D printing machine is engineered with a build chamber of 17.7 x 17.7 x 19.7 inches (450 x 450 x 500mm) to satisfy multiple production needs. With an increased volume like this, the S450Q model lets you print large-size parts as a whole and batches of small-to-medium items in one session, which results in rapid and efficient manufacture.

Printer controls

The BLT-S450Q AM machine can be operated via a mounted control unit with a clear and user-friendly interface.

The solution is supplied with the company’s proprietary software package including Magics, BLT-BP, and BLT-MCS. The dedicated programs empower smooth build preparation and comprehensive unit control, while also providing numerous handy features, such as smart powder spreading detection and 3D reconstruction. They help to recognize the problems in the printing process and substantially improve production efficiency by effectively fixing them.

The monitoring functions offered by the BLT-MCS program encompass manual control, autonomous printing, quality inspection, and convenient operation log as well as automatic stitching and grafting procedures. Due to the applied Profinet Telecommunications technology, you can enjoy rapid connection and accurate synchronization when interacting with the machine.
