HandyPROBE is a portable contact coordinate measuring machine from the Canadian company Creaform. It is a handheld, wireless 3D laser scanner that uses laser triangulation to capture high-quality data with ease. The last generations of the series - the HandyPROBE NEXT and NEXT MC Elite - have been designed to provide high flexibility and efficiency in shop-floor, quality control operations. They are ergonomic, simple to configure, and intuitive to use.
The HandyPROBE works with a C-track dual-camera sensor providing a wide working volume. By adopting a dynamic referencing system, it allows you to move both the scanner and the tracker during detection without the risk of measurement failures. No matter the environment, it will always be able to generate high-quality, accurate data.
HandyPROBE is the right pick for metrology and reverse-engineering. It helps you to reduce downtimes caused by inefficiencies and wrong measurements. It also lets you maximize your productivity while saving money. Continue reading for a deeper review.
HandyPROBE is used in a variety of industries. For example, it is widely adopted for the measurement of vehicles. Look at the pics to get a better idea of its capabilities.
HandyPROBE is a professional optical CMM laser scanner. It is available in two versions, NEXT and NEXT MC Elite. The standard model has a maximum accuracy of 0.025 mm, the Elite one grants a 3D point accuracy of up to 0.020. Both scanners can perform 80 measurements per second.
Their single-point repeatability and volumetric accuracy strongly depend on the working volume selected. Specifically, for a working area of 9.1 m3, the NEXT version can reach single-point repeatability of up to 0.060 mm and a volumetric accuracy of 0.086 mm. The NEXT Elite provides 0.44 mm SPR and 0.064 mm volumetric accuracy. For a working area of 16.6 m3 the overall values are slightly lower, namely 0.088 mm SPR and 0.122 mm VA for the standard NEXT, 0.058 mm and 0.078 mm for the NEXT MC Elite.
Thanks to the high-quality hardware and wireless connectivity, both models provide high movement freedom and portability.
You might combine your HandyPROBE with Creaform MetraSCAN 3D to accelerate the scanning process and improve the quality of the collected data.
The HandyPROBE NEXT series offers a wide and flexible working volume of up to 16.6 m3. It can comfortably capture objects ranging from 0.2 to 10 meters in size.
HandyPROBE can be controlled from a USB-tethered computer. The scanner also includes a series of multifunction buttons to easily interact with the operating software. The device can be handled from 2 ergonomics positions, namely as a stylus pen or as a joystick.
Creaform provides a 3D software and application suite, VXelements. It features all the necessary tools required for data acquisition. It is simple-to-use and effective. It provides a real-time view of the scanning. VXelements includes an integrated 3D inspection program, VXinspect. It provides all the necessary features required by pre-production control and metrology inspection. MetraSCAN scanners are also compatible with a series of third-party engineering software.
