MetraSCAN 3D is a professional, handheld optical 3D laser scanner series. It is a metrology-grade, portable 3D measurement system designed for shop-floor conditions. The lineup includes the MetraSCAN 350 and the latest 750 series. Each line is composed of both a standard and an elite version. They offer different performance levels and mainly differ in volumetric accuracy. The MetraSCAN R is an additional series composed of robot-mounted MetraSCAN 750 Elite scanners.
MetraSCAN 3D is an award-winning technology developed by Creaform. It has gotten the Red Dot Design Award 2016, the International Design Excellence award 17, and the Japanese Good Design. Its extreme accuracy reduces the risk of unexpected costs, production and approval delays, and more. Also, it cuts time-to-market boosting your productivity without compromising the output quality.
MetraSCAN scanners employ C-Track dual-camera sensors fitted with professional-grade optics and special lighting. This external optical tracker is able to detect the scanner position. It allows measuring all reflectors within its operating area resulting in wide freedom of movement. You might link up to four C-tracks to enhance the operating flexibility.
The measuring versatility, the fast scanning speed, and the ability to capture difficult-to-scan materials, make the MetraSCAN 3D scanners a perfect fit for metrology and large-scale reverse engineering. Their low weight makes them comfortable to use and portable. Read the review to find out more.

MetraSCAN technology is even used for vehicle restoration. This is an Aston Martin DB5 scan. As you can see, it is dimensionally accurate and well-defined.
MetraSCAN 3D scanners are professional, portable 3D laser systems. They come in two different series, MetraSCAN 350 and MetraSCAN 750. The 350 series is based on a 3 laser crosses, eye-safe light source and provides a point accuracy of 0.040 mm. The 750 series adopts 7 laser crosses plus an extra line. It can reach up to 0.030 mm accuracy. Both lines ensure a 0.050 3D resolution and 200 mm depth-of-field. They operate at a stand-off distance of 300 mm performing up to 480,000 measurements/s.
MetraSCAN 750 and 750 Elite are more precise, faster, and lighter than the MetraSCAN 350 models. Also, they can capture bigger parts and scan a variety of surfaces, even black, shiny or multi-colored ones. The professional design and quality hardware deliver great accuracy and reliability, granting high repeatability of the results.
All MetraSCAN scanners adopt the Creaform dynamic referencing system, a capturing method based on the part instead of the movable scanner. It ensures TRUaccuracy and TRUsimplicity enabling automatic alignment and measuring expandability.
The scan area of the MetraSCAN 750 line is 275 x 250 mm (10.8 x 9.8 in.). The 350 series has a capture area of 225 x 250 mm (8.8 x 9.8 in.) instead. The company recommends scanning part within a size range of 0.2–6 m (0.7–20 ft.).
MetraSCAN 3D scanners are controlled via a USB-tethered computer. They also feature multi-function buttons that simplify the interaction with the operating software.
Creaform provides a 3D software and application suite, VXelements. It features all the necessary tools required for data acquisition. It is simple-to-use and effective. It provides a real-time view of the scanning. MetraSCAN scanners are also compatible with a series of third-party engineering software.

MetraSCAN 3D scanners are available in black. Their Geomag-styled aspect makes them ideal for aerospace, manufacturing, automotive, and other industrial applications.
The scanner dimensions are 11.4 x 9.3 x 11.7 inches (289 x 235 x 296 mm). They weigh 3 lb ( 1.38 kg).
The price of the MetraSCAN 3D is $0.00, which is reasonable considering its functionality.
