Print Quality

The Creality CR-X is an FDM 3D printer that can print layers at 100 microns. The surface finish is not as smooth as you get with the more expensive printers but is more than enough for prototyping and household use.

The Creality CR-X is equipped with a 0.4 mm nozzle, giving you the best balance between speed and detail. The nozzle can heat up to 255°C, making it compatible with a broader range of filaments.

The print head runs on rails, which makes printing consistent, fast, and precise. Yet there may be some play since this is a self-assembly kit.

Materials

The Creality CR-X offers a variety of filament types to choose from. The device is compatible with PLA, ABS, TPU, Copper, Wood, Carbon Fiber, Gradient Color, and other filaments.

The printer’s extruders are equipped with an upgraded dual-fan cooling system for printing with PLA-type materials. The fans cool the model during printing, which reduces warping, stringing, and other related issues.

To ensure high reproducibility, we recommend installing an enclosed print chamber. This way the print quality would not be affected by temperature fluctuations as a result of drafts and other factors.

The Creality CR-X prints with standard 1.75 mm filament. You can pick the material you prefer from any vendor benefiting from a wide material choice.

Build Volume

The Creality CR-X Dual Color offers a build volume of 300 x 300 x 400 (12 x 12 x 16 inches) in a single-color mode, and a slightly diminished volume of 270 x 270 x 400 mm (10.6 x 10.6 x 16 inches) in a dual-color mode. It is enough for printing a single large part or simultaneous production of several small-sized parts.

Printer Controls

The Creality CR-X can be controlled by navigating through a user-friendly 4.3-inch LCD touch screen. The logic behind the menu options is understandable, so the touchscreen provides an optimal level of user experience.

3D models can be printed from an SD card using the user interface or a PC via a tethered USB cable. The open frame allows you to always stay on top of the printing progress.

The recommended slicers for the CR-X are Cura, Simplify 3D, or Repetier-Host. The printer works with .STL, .OBJ, and G-Code file formats. The software can be run on Windows, Linux,  and macOS operating systems.
