The Creality Ender 5 Pro is a personal FDM 3D printer kit produced by the Chinese manufacturer Creality. It is the upgraded version of the well-known budget Ender-5. Like its counterpart, the Ender 5 Pro kit comes semi-assembled. Its modular yet solid design makes it quick and easy to assemble for both tinkerers and beginners. The cubic, open-frame aluminum construction grants high stability and precision while keeping the printer easily accessible. According to All3DP, the Ender 5 Pro is the best 3D printer under $500.

This affordable printer is equipped with a soft magnetic, self-adhesive heated bed, a metal extruding module, an LCD control display, and an independent ultra-low noise motherboard for quiet operation. The wear-resistant, firm structure includes high-standard V-slot profiles and pulleys and a double Y-axis control system. They both make for stable and smooth operation and higher durability.

The Ender 5 Pro sports a set of functional features aimed at reducing printing issues while providing a seamless 3D printing experience. For example, the integrated power supply protection system and the print recovery feature prevent the risk of failure due to power outages.

Ideal for rapid prototyping and household use, this device has been used to 3D print a variety of models, including figures, toys, buildings, prosthetics, and more. The Darth Vader bust and the turtle models pictured below are just an example of the printing capability of the Creality Ender 5 Pro.

Print quality

The Creality Ender 5 Pro is an FDM 3D printer that can print layers at 100 microns. The surface finish is not as smooth as you get with the more expensive printers, but is more than enough for prototyping and household use.

This 3D printed and hand-painted Elder Wand is a great example of the quality achievable. The textured surface gives the right mood to the scene.

The Creality Ender 5 Pro comes stock with a single 0.4-mm nozzle, which gives you the best balance between speed and detail. It also supports optional nozzles of both 0.2 and 0.3 mm in diameter.

The print head runs on linear rails, which makes printing reliable, fast and precise. The dual Y-axis control system makes for the synchronous yet smoother movement of both sides of the gantry. It also minimizes potential vibrations of the machine and flaws in your models. The upgraded motherboard features a 4-layer PCB with solid filter and capacitor for better thermal runaway protection and a TMC2208 ultra-quiet driver.

Materials

The Creality Ender 5 Pro offers a flexible filament selection. Indeed, it is capable of printing with PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, and other materials.

Its wear-resistant redesigned metal extrusion module makes for stable and smooth material feeding. It includes an improved filament tubing with an inner diameter of 1.9mm. This makes the filament flow smoothly. The integrated fan-cooling system reduces warping, stringing and, generally, makes for higher quality prints.

The Creality Ender 5 Pro has a flexible magnetic heated bed, which makes it suitable for printing with ABS-type materials. The detachable bed can be quickly calibrated using the easy-leveling ergonomic nuts. The self-adhesive top layer grants optimum printing adhesion. It also facilitates print removal.

To ensure high reproducibility, we recommend installing an enclosed print chamber. This way the print quality would not be affected by temperature fluctuations as a result of drafts and other factors.

The Creality Ender 5 Pro prints with 1.75 mm filament, providing you with a wide choice of materials.

Build volume

The build area of 8.7 x 8.7 x 11.8 inches (220 x 220 x 300 mm) lets you print almost everything in one go. You can print one big model in one piece or multiple items in a single session.

Printer controls

The printer includes a 45-degree LCD screen with a rotating knob. Easy to operate and navigate, it gives you wide control over the 3D printing process.

3D models can be printed via a USB tethered computer or offline using a TF card.

The Creality Ender 5 Pro can work with a variety of 3D printing slicers, including Cura, Repetier-Host, and Simplify3D. It supports STL, OBJ and AMF file formats. The printer software runs on Windows XP, Vista and 7 as well as on Mac and Linux operating systems.
