The Delta WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 is an FDM professional 3D printer produced by the Italian WASP company. It is the industrial version of the Delta WASP 2040 Pro. Unlike its counterpart, the 2040 Industrial has a heated build chamber, which relies on hot and cold technology. Also, it is compatible with more extruder kits. It features a sturdy structure made of aluminum and steel with polycarbonate and PU covers. It employs metal carters capable of reducing the machine vibrations. This makes for higher precision while printing. Also, it employs expanded polymers for efficient thermo-acoustic insulation.
The WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 is ideal for producing good-quality, repeatable parts. The hot and cold technology allows heating the build chamber up to 80°C while cooling down the mechanics. In this way, it allows reliably printing with temperature-sensitive materials and extending the hardware life. The Suspended Bowden mechanism makes the driving system lighter, improving the overall print speed and quality. The useful Resurrection and Free Zeta systems let you recover a print when the power goes off. The Wi-Fi connectivity option along with the on-board camera allows for remote control and real-time monitoring of the printing status. Remote intervention by WASP operators is also available.
This industrial yet versatile printer can be equipped with three different types of extruders. If you need fast print speed and high quality, you can go for the included WASP Spitfire Red with LT cartridge. Otherwise, you can choose between the Zen and the Flex extruders. The former is a double extruder targeted to multi-material printing, the latter is a direct-driven extruder able to print flexible filaments (down to 50 Shore A). Delta WASP industrial 3D printers allow producing cost-effective patient-fit products for medical applications. For example, they have been used to produce some orthopedics corsets. Look at the picture below. The model is smooth and perfectly shaped.
They can also be used to 3D print large-format amazing sculptures. The picture below shows SIKKA, a design project based on the combination of textiles and 3D printing.
The Delta WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 is an FDM 3D printer that can print layers at 50 microns within a build area of Ø200 x 400mm. It features a maximum print speed of 500 mm/s and a maximum travel speed of 800 mm/s with an acceleration of 15,000 mm/s2. This way you can produce parts with smooth exterior surfaces in short times.

According to the extruder kit mounted, the Delta WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 supports different nozzles. In particular, the Spitfire Red and Zen extruders can be equipped with 0.4, 0.7 and 1.2mm nozzles. The Flex extruder employs a single nozzle of 0.4mm in diameter.
The WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 is a delta-type 3D printer powered by stepper motors and nylon wheels, which run on anodized aluminum sliders. Since there is minimal vibration of the print bed, the print quality is high.
Thanks to the 120°C heated bed and configurable tool heads, the Delta WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 can print with a broad selection of filaments, including ASA, ABS, HIPS, PETG, TPU, TPE, PP, PC, PC+ABS, PPS, PMMA, PVA, PA, PA carbon, and PLA.

The Delta WASP 2040 Industrial 4.0 can print with third-party 1.75mm and 3mm filament, providing you with wide material choice.
The build area is Ø 7.9 x 15.7 inches (Ø 200 x 400 mm). It lets you print small-to-medium accurate parts in one go. Larger models can be printed in parts and then assembled using acetone (for ABS) or glue (for PLA).
The printer is controlled via the built-in TFT touch screen.
3D models can be printed from a computer via a USB stick or over Wi-Fi.
The printer software with Octoprint interface runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. It works with 3D models in STL, OBJ, and G-Code formats. The printing models can be generated using the most common 3D slicing software, including Cura, Slic3r, and Simplify3D.
