The Delta WASP 4070 is a large-format FDM professional 3D printer produced by the Italian WASP company. It is a delta-style 3D printing device characterized by fast print speed and high precision. It is composed of an aluminum frame with polycarbonate and wood covers. Its fully enclosed design keeps the printing temperature constant granting stable performance over time. Its reliability makes it ideal for in-house rapid prototyping and small-scale manufacturing.

The Delta WASP 4070 comes with a stainless steel heated bed (110°C), which makes it compatible with a variety of ABS-type filaments. It offers a printing size of Ø 400 x 670 mm, which lets you produce small-to-large parts in short times. Thanks to smart sensors and recovery systems, it prevents the risk of failures due to the end of the filament or blackouts. The controlled printing temperature, alongside the hot bed and suspended Bowden extruder, improves the final print quality minimizing shrinkage or warping.

The 4070 3D printer is compatible with two different own-brand extruders, the Spitfire Black and the LDM. The former lets you print fast with high precision, the latter can process dense-fluid materials, such as clay. A quick replacement system lets you swap the extruders in no time. Thanks to its large format and sturdy structure, the Delta WASP 4070 is able to produce a variety of models for both personal and professional use. Keep reading for a thorough review.

Print quality

The Delta WASP 4070 is an FDM 3D printer that can print layers at 100 microns. The surface finish is not as smooth as you get with the more expensive printers, but is more than enough for prototyping and household use. With a maximum printing and travel speed of 200 mm/s, it sports an acceleration of up to 3,000 mm/s2. This lets you create unique objects in quick times.

The Spitfire Black extruder lets you print with nozzles of three different sizes (0.4, 0.7, and 1.2mm). You can choose the diameter that best meets your speed needs. The LDM WASP extruder comes with a 1.2mm nozzle for smooth extrusion of liquid materials. 

This is a delta-type 3D printer with high print speed. The movement mechanism relies on low-friction guides on aluminum slides. Since there is minimal vibration of the print bed, the print quality is high.

 

Materials

When printing with the Spitfire extruder, the Delta WASP 4070 can process PLA, PETG, ABS, PA carbon, ASA, PVA, HIPS, PP, and other materials. The LDM extruder makes it compatible with 3D printing dense-fluid materials, including Clay, Gres, Porcelain, refractory materials, ceramic mixtures, and more.

The extruders come with a fan for printing with PLA-type materials. By cooling the model down, it reduces warping, stringing and, generally, makes for higher quality prints.

The Delta WASP 4070 prints with standard 1.75 mm filament and ceramic materials, providing you with plenty of choices.

 

Build volume

The build area is Ø 15.7 x 26.4 inches (Ø 400 x 670 mm). It lets you print a broad range of small-to-large parts with high accuracy.

 

Printer controls

The printer is controlled via the built-in LCD interface. 

3D models can be printed from a computer via SD Card. 

The printer software runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. It works with 3D models in STL, OBJ, and G-Code formats. The printing models can be generated using the most common 3D slicing software, including Cura, Slic3r, and Simplify3D.
