ATOS Triple Scan is an industrial metrology SL 3D scanner series by the German GOM. It includes the ATOS II Triple Scan, the ATOS III Triple Scan, and the latest ATOS Triple Scan 12M, which is equipped with two 12-megapixel resolution cameras. It uses a self-developed measuring and projection technology, the Triple Scan Technology. It lets you accurately measure complex objects, glossy surfaces, and products with cavities.

Specifically, it is equipped with a pre-calibrated projector and two pre-calibrated stereo cameras used to record the fringe patterns projected onto the surface to be scanned. Thus, it is able to calculate 3D surface points from three different beam intersections reducing the number of single scans. It is able to record and measure industrial parts quickly, accelerating the overall process.

You can operate the scanner in three different ways: manual, semi-automatic and automatic. Manual operation can be performed using a stand. For the semi-automatic method, you might use the 3-axis motorization kit. The mobile turntable enables the automated measurement of small-to-medium-sized items. The GOM Touch Probe add-on allows fully automated, point-based measuring and inspection of components that are difficult to access.

ATOS Triple Scan Technology is a useful solution to optimize the design process and production of complex objects. It is used to record and inspect sheet metals, die-cast parts, prototypes, and many others. It can be mounted onto an ATOS ScanBox for automated measuring processes. Also, it can be upgraded installing the Plus Box add-on, which is capable of measuring big or multiple components simultaneously. Continue reading for a complete review.

Scan accuracy

ATOS Triple Scan is an industrial 3D metrology scanner series. It has a maximum resolution of 0.03 mm. It adopts a Triple Scan blue-light technology to provide precise measuring results and dimensional quality. You can easily adapt the accuracy and measurement resolution to your requirements. It allows digitizing both large and small parts. The ATOS Triple SCAN II and III operate in a working range of 38 mm up to 2 m. The Triple Scan 12M works within a range of 170 - 610 mm. Each scanner is able to capture a different amount of points per scan, specifically, the ATOS II captures up to 5 million PPS, the ATOS III 8 million, and the ATOS 12 M 16 million points.

The whole series ensures high-quality performance when measuring reflective materials, fine structures, and articulated edges. The blue-light system is able to filter interfering ambient light reducing the overall measuring time. The scanners feature a self-monitoring system able to detect and compensate for any variation of ambient conditions.
