METAL X is a 3D printer designed for printing metal products. It is powered by the Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing technology, which combines 3D printing with metal injection molding. Specifically, it allows printing metal powder bound embedded in a plastic filament. The printer ships along with the post-processing Sinter-1 and Wash-1 stations. These additional devices are required to complete the production of ready-to-work metal parts. The dedicated, cloud-based software with automatic material tracking and the integrated touch interface lets you manage the printing process with ease.
Metal X is a cost-effective alternative to other metal additive manufacturing technologies and traditional machining and casting processes. It works with stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel 625, tool steel, and titanium. The building area of the machine is 250 x 220 x 200 mm.
Stanley Black & Decker have used it to print an actuator housing. By adopting this innovative technology, the company has been able to save up to 12x cost and 20x time on its production. Also, if compared to the previous models realized with traditional fabrication methods, this new housing introduces a bunch of brand new key features only achievable through the ADAM technology.
The MarkForged Metal X is an FDM metal 3D printer that can print layers at 50 microns. This way you can produce parts with smooth exterior surfaces. The innovative ADAM technology enables the production of closed-cell structures providing strong, lightweight yet cheaper parts. Each parts is firstly printed and then post-processed through the Wash-1 debinder and the Sinter-1 furnace. The final stage, the sintering, makes the part around 99% dense.
Finished products are well-defined, smooth and isotropic.

The print head moves on rails. It makes the design of the machine more simple and lightweight.
MarkForged Metal X prints with Stainless steel, Aluminum, Inconel, Titanium, and Tool Steel.
The build area of 9.8 x 8.7 x 7.9 inches (250 x 220 x 200 mm) lets you print a wide range of work-ready, functional parts.
You can control the printer and manage the printing settings either via a USB-tethered computer or through the fitted touchscreen.
By operating it from a computer, you might transfer your 3D models via USB cable, WiFi or Ethernet connection. You might also directly upload the files via a USB Flash Drive.
The printer comes packaged with the in-house Makerforged’s Eiger software. It is a cloud-based program extremely easy-to-use. It features automatic material tracking system, real-time fleet management, and cloud-based collaboration. The advanced control mode lets you have full control over your prints. Eiger runs on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It supports STL files.
