FreeScan X5 is a handheld, professional 3D laser scanner. it is a reworked version of the FreeScan X3 offering higher performance, speed and precision. It uses a high-speed, triangulation technology based on a 10-line, eye-safe laser array (Class II). The scanner arrives ready to operate. You’ll only need to plug the cable and start scanning. It is light and portable, being really convenient to use without the need for tripods or fixtures.
Its low weight and transportability give you access to narrow spaces streamlining your experience and eliminating 3D scanning size limitations. You can scan objects of almost any size, shape, and color. It is compatible with 3D photogrammetric systems, which are capable of extending its measuring capability from 0.1 m to 6 m. It can also be integrated with external CAD packages. It is able to perform its task both indoor and outdoor.
It is adopted by designers, educators, engineers, and other professionals for the creation of accurate and versatile digitized 3D versions of real products. Scroll down for in-depth details.
The students of the DHBW Engineering Stuttgart eV have used it to scan their custom car’s monocoque developed for the Student Formula race. The professional device has been able to scan the large model quickly with an accuracy of up to 0.03 mm. It was even capable of capturing its darker and reflective surfaces. Have a look at the results.
FreeScan X5 is an industrial, portable 3D laser scanner with a maximum accuracy of 0.03 mm and a 3D resolution of 0.1 mm. It offers a volume precision of 0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m. It is able to scan 350,000 points per second in complex environments granting high repeatability and flexibility.
It is compatible with DigiMetric SHINING 3D photogrammetric systems. DigiMetric enables precise measurement of large pieces obtaining accurate global frame points ready to be imported into the scanner for data alignment. It is a useful integration for speeding up the process and reducing the risk of data delamination and cumulative errors. When combined with DigiMetric, the scanner volume accuracy increases up to 0.025 mm/m.
FreeScan X5 has a single scan range of 300 x 250 mm and a global scan range of 100 x 8,000mm. It works at a stand-off distance of 300 mm and offers a scan depth of 250 mm.
By moving the scanner around the object you will benefit from an almost unlimited scan area.
The scanner is controlled via a USB-tethered computer. The device can be directly operated via the built-in multi-function buttons.
The scanner works with the proprietary 3DScan software. It allows post-processing the data collected and exporting them in the most popular file formats, such as STL, OBJ, ASC, DGM, and more. It runs on Windows and is compatible with several third-party software.
