The UP Mini 2 is a beginner-friendly, desktop 3D printer. Extremely easy to use, it is packed with a set of thoughtful safety features, which makes it ideal for home, educational and semi-professional use. It is an upgrade of the UP Mini 3D printer. It comes already assembled and ready to operate. It is a smart, semi-automated device engineered with a password-protected Wi-Fi connection for wireless operation. Compact in size, it includes a handle for easy transportation.
UP Mini 2 features a blackout recovery system to easily restart a print from where it left off. It works with proprietary desktop software and mobile app. It includes two interchangeable print beds with a different print adhesion capability (UP Perf and UP Flex). It offers both software-assisted calibration and automatic calibration for easier fine-tuning of the bed. It also includes automatic nozzle height detection. Equipped with a recirculating HEPA filtration with activated carbon and a closed-frame, it reduces toxic emissions making for a safer printing environment. The printer has been used to print several models, prototypes and end-use parts. Read the review to see some examples.

The UP Mini is an FDM 3D printer that can print layers at 200 microns. The surface finish is not as smooth as you get with the more expensive printers, but is more than enough for prototyping and household use. Despite the minimal layer visibility, the printer offers a reasonable ABS print quality for its price.

The print head runs on rods with linear bearings, making the design more simple, lightweight and effective, all characteristics that are desirable in a 3D printer.
The custom nozzle along with the printer enclosure allows printing with a broad range of materials. Thus, UP Mini 2 can print with ABS, PLA, PLA Composites, Polycarbonate, Bronze, Conductive, Nylon, Wood, ASA, PET, Flexible, Carbon Fiber, and more.
The extruder comes with a fan for printing with PLA-type materials. By cooling the model down, it reduces warping, stringing and, generally, makes for higher quality prints.
Unlike many FDM printers, the UP Mini has either a heated print bed and a closed print chamber, which means it can reliably print with ABS-type materials delivering good quality results.
As an example, one guy printed and then assembled the Longclaw Sword from ‘The Game of Thrones’.

The UP Mini 2 prints with 1.75 mm filament, providing you with a wide choice of materials.
The build area of 4.7 x 4.7 x 4.7 inches (120 x 120 x 120 mm) is enough for printing DIY personal objects and small prototypes. For larger prints, you can just print the model in parts to be assembled, just like in the case of this ABS-made sword.

You can choose to operate the printer from a paired computer or wirelessly through the dedicated mobile app. You might also control it via the integrated user-friendly, 4-inch LCD touchscreen. The panel allows managing all the configuration and printing settings.
3D models can be printed from computer via USB cable or over WiFi.
The printer works with both UP Studio desktop software and UP Studio App. Easy-to-use and usable, the desktop software features a smart-support technology. It offers software-assisted calibration and automatic calibration. Still, it is capable of detecting and fixing 3D model errors. It runs on both Windows and macOS X. It supports a variety of proprietary and generic file formats (up3, ups, stl, obj, 3mf, ply, off, 3ds, gcode).
