As part of the “Occupy Mars Learning Adventures STEAM++ Program”, some students from the Long Beach Unified School District's CAMS have chosen the DOBOT robot to produce parts for other robots.
Cazenovia High School uses the DOBOT Magician robots to teach 18-year-old students advanced robotics, automation techniques, and programming. Thanks to their robustness and ease of use, the robots are perfect for classrooms.
DOBOT Magician is a cost-effective 4-axis desktop robotic arm. The positioning repeatability of up to 0.2 mm is a remarkable feature for the price. The arm is engineered with an accurate stepper motor with a gear reducer for smoother operation. It can lift objects weighing up to 500 g. With 250 g of workload, the rotation servo joint can reach a maximum speed of 480°C, all other joints feature a maximum speed of 320°/s.
DOBOT magician supports secondary development through more than 20 programming languages and 13 programmable I/O ports, allowing for a variety of improvements and applications.
The DOBOT Magician supports a variety of end-use tools. According to the task, you can simply replace the tool, teach the arm how to move and start working. Indeed, it can easily turn into a 3D printer, a laser engraver, a gripper, a drawer, and more.
The gripper module works in a range of 27.5mm. It features a pneumatic drive type with a force of 8N. The suction cup has a diameter of 20mm and a pressure of -35 Kpa.
The arm is capable of picking and placing products of up to 500g with high precision.
Able to print with PLA-type materials, the DOBOT Magician creates custom models with a resolution of up to 0.1 mm.
These Pokèmons are a great example. We gotta catch ‘em all!
The DOBOT Magician includes a 405nm blue laser with a power consumption of 500mw. It includes 5 Kraft liner papers to start engraving right out the box. It is capable of producing accurate results with an acceptable amount of details.
The pen holder supports up to 10mm in diameter. It is capable of writing and drawing anything you want, providing high design flexibility.
The arm has a maximum reach of 320 mm, which allows performing a variety of different tasks. The axis movement varies from joint to joint. The base rotates within a range of -90° to + 90°, the rear arm rotates from 0° to +85°, the forearm from -10° to +95°, while the rotation servo form +90° to -90°.
As a 3D printer, it features a print volume of 150 x 150 x 150 mm.
The DOBOT Magician provides 7 controlling modes. Suitable for both newbies and experts, it features easy-to-use controls (drag & drop interface) as well as more advanced ones (serial port SDK and motion control interface). You can operate the arm via PC, mobile APP, Voice, Leap Motion, Gesture, Vision and Mind Control EEG. This means you can control it by Programming, APP, Bluetooth, WiFi, Mouse, and more. It uses C/C and Processing as primary languages.
The machine includes some programmable and extensible I/O Interfaces, including UART, Reset, Stop, 12V, 5V and two I/O.
The robotic arm works with several applications, including DobotStudio, Repetier Host, GrblController3.6, and DobotBlockly (Visual Programming editor). It also supports a couple of Software Develop Kits, namely communication Protocol, and Dobot Program Library.
