The myBuddy 280 designed by the Chinese-based Elephant Robotics company is a cute dual-arm collaborative robot equipped with the Raspberry Pi 4B mainboard and three M5Stack ESP32-based modules. myBuddy 280 adopts the mechanical construction and operation of myCobot 280 Pi model, but features an adorable humanoid design that greatly adds to its interactive capabilities.
Each arm of myBuddy 280 has six axes of movement with one more axis in the waist. All the 13 joints are equipped with high-performance servo motors for smooth rotation and high accuracy. The cobot sports a 7" touchscreen and two 2-megapixel cameras for developing machine vision applications. The working range of each arm is 280 mm and the maximum payload is 250 g. myBuddy 280 is compatible with Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux and supports different programming environments.
The Elephant Robotics myBuddy 280 is based on the Raspberry Pi 4B mainboard featuring a 64-bit 1.5 GHz 4-core CPU. The end of each arm houses the ESP32-based M5STACK Atom development board with a 5 x 5 RGB LED matrix panel, additional GPIO pins, an IR sensor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, a programmable button, and a USB-C port. The arm ends are equipped with Lego-compatible connectors that expand the cobot’s customization opportunities and allow for quick and easy installation of various end effectors, such as grippers, suction pumps, or little hands.
The 13 high-performance servo motors of myBuddy 280 provide quick response and smooth rotation of the 13 joints with the repeatability of ±0.5 mm which is impressive for a consumer-level device.
