The Mass Portal Pharaoh XD40 is a professional desktop 3D printer produced by the Latvian company Mass Portal. As part of the Pharaoh family - which also includes the Pharaoh XD20 and XD30 -, this delta-style large-format 3D printing device is characterized by the same high print quality and definition, no matter the filament used. Indeed, many 3rd-party filament vendors state that the Pharaoh XD series delivers the best surface quality among all the open material 3D printers commercially available.

The Pharaoh XD40 core features are quality, speed, and precision. But how does it reach them? This sturdy aluminum machine is based on a delta-style design, which reduces the vibrations to the minimum even when printing at high speed. It is engineered with a state-of-the-art print head that heats up quickly and melts the filament efficiently for a flawless extrusion. It supports single, dual and triple extrusion mode, being capable of printing multi-material and multi-colored parts using up to 3 filaments simultaneously. The extruder can heat up to 300°C, giving you the possibility to print with a wide range of filaments. It supports multiple nozzle diameters, broadening your design opportunities. As for the build plate, the XD40 features a heated glass bed with a high flat surface. The platform is automatically calibrated before each print. The closure side panels can be easily removed. This gives you the possibility to print in either a ventilative or constant printing temperature mode.

Thanks to its large build volume of 400 mm3, the XD40 has been used to print lots of high-quality, precise 3D models for both professional and educational use. Read our Mass Portal Pharaoh XD40 review to learn more about this quality printer.

Print quality

The Mass Portal Pharaoh XD40 is a triple-extrusion delta 3D printer that can print layers at 10 microns. This lets you produce accurate parts with ultra-smooth surfaces and capillary details. Its extreme resolution results in layer-less prints.

The Pharaoh XD40 can be equipped with a set of different nozzles ranging from 0.1 to 1.4 mm in diameter. Depending on your printing requirements, you can benefit from ultra-fine detail or high print speed.

This is a delta-type 3D printer with high print speed. Since there is minimal vibration of the print bed, the print quality is high.

Materials

The Mass Portal Pharaoh XD40 prints with ABS, PLA, PET, PVA, HIPS, and other third-party 1.75mm filaments.

It is engineered with an all-metal triple extruder that heats up to 300°C. This means it can print with up to 3 different materials simultaneously. This enables multi-material printing with a broad range of thermoplastics. The tool head module includes a triple cooling fan system, which keeps even the tiniest details crisp.

Unlike many FDM printers, the Pharaoh XD40 has a heated print bed and closed print chamber, which means it can reliably print with ABS-type materials. The removable plate heats up to 110°C.

Build volume

The build area is 15.7 x 15.7 x 15.7 inches (400 x 400 x 400 mm). It lets you manufacture almost anything.

Printer controls

The Mass Portal Pharaoh XD40 comes with a 7-inch touchscreen for easy and convenient user experience. The screen software, Pharaoh Touch, gives you direct control over the printing process.

The illuminated build chamber lets you constantly monitor the printing progress.

The printer features USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connections.

The printer comes bundled with Pharaoh Control and a full Simplify3D license. Pharaoh control is the proprietary print lab management software. Simplify3D is a cross-platform slicing software. It runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux systems. It gives you full control over the print settings. Also, it includes a preview-mode to constantly check your build sequence.
