The Polyga H3 is a professional handheld 3D scanner with hybrid plug-and-play functionality that is aimed at ease of use, portability, high accuracy, and outstanding speed of data capturing. Like other company’s devices, the H3 is equipped with fast high-resolution cameras providing highly detailed outputs in monochrome or full color, depending on the version purchased. This allows it to produce the highest accuracy in a single-shot scan for a handheld system in its class. Yet one of the main advantages of the scanner is its reasonable price.

The H3 employs structured light technology and proprietary multi-imaging patterns to reconstruct an object as a 3D model that can be further exported to appropriate CAD software. In contrast to other handheld devices, the model shows a noticeable difference in scan quality and level of detail due to its advanced capabilities similar to stationary 3D scanners. Another thoughtful feature is automated scanning with a tripod and rotary table (optional), which does not require additional calibration.

Scan accuracy

The Polyga H3 is a structured-light 3D scanner with two high-resolution cameras (700 FPS). It is available in two versions, operating in monochrome or color mode. The device is capable of scanning objects with an accuracy of up to 80 microns and a point-to-point distance of 0.5 mm. Also, similar to Polyga’s stationary 3D scanners, it applies the company’s proprietary multi-image scanning patterns for capturing high-accuracy 3D scans, which distinguishes the H3 model from competitors in its category.

Due to the aforementioned technology, the H3 is capable of getting the finest details of the scanned object, such as wrinkles on a jacket. This gives true realism to the resulting digital 3D models.

As for the color option, it is particularly useful for projects where capturing high-quality color and texture information is important. The scanner will become a valuable tool for such applications as inspection, 3D printing, documenting and archiving, 3D modeling for video games, reverse engineering, and more.

Scan volume

The Polyga H3 features two scanning areas for rendering workpieces of different sizes. Specifically, the field of view stands at 205 x 112 and 455 x 252 mm, with a standoff distance of 380 mm. The device can capture objects from 10 cm to 1.8 m in length.

Scanner controls

The Polyga H3 scanner operates through a plugged computer and uses the proprietary FlexScan3D software. The program ensures rapid data acquisition and features high-processing speed as well as advanced post-processing capabilities. It delivers a really smooth and responsive 3D scanning experience.

The H3 is capable of quickly transforming into a plug-and-play stationary device by mounting it on a tripod. With an optional rotary table, one gets access to fully automated 3D scanning that does not require calibration.

The scanner supports the most common file formats: PLY, OBJ, STL, ASC, FBX, and 3D3. For cleanup and editing any 3D scan data, you can use PointKit — new user-friendly software from Polyga dedicated to work with large and noisy datasets. The program offers multiple tools to automate processing of 3D scans. The list of handy functions contains geometry manipulation, alignment, merging, editing and healing, measurement and inspection, etc.

The solution is available in three versions: as a desktop app for Windows, web app, or SDK. It can work with meshes from any type of 3D capturing device, including desktop 3D scanners, laser scanners, 3D cameras, photogrammetry, and LIDAR.
