Prusa CORE One Kit 3D Printer

The Prusa CORE One is a fully enclosed CoreXY FDM 3D printer with active temperature control designed for top print quality and speed. The machine features a completely redesigned cooling system alongside a number of design upgrades, such as an all-steel exoskeleton frame for maximum firmness and stability. Similar to the MK4S, the CORE One has been engineered with a new 360° cooling system, high-flow nozzle, robust components, and tweaked print profiles enabling extremely fast printing with the same brand quality and reliability. The enclosed chamber, capable of reaching up to 55 °C, provides active temperature control for high-quality printing across a wide range of materials from PLA and PETG (even with the door closed) to engineering-grade filaments like ASA, PC, or Nylon. This feature greatly helps to reduce warping and layer separation even with the most demanding materials.

There are two versions of the Prusa CORE One available, which are a DIY kit and an assembled modification.

Thanks to its robust CoreXY kinematics, high-flow nozzle, and factory-tuned print profiles for 200+ filaments, the Prusa CORE One is currently the fastest Prusa’s printer that never sacrifices quality for quicker print times. Similar to its predecessors, the CORE One model boasts the custom 32-bit STM32-powered xBuddy mainboard with multiple connectivity options, including USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. To ensure safe operation, the mainboard communicates with five high-precision thermistors and has hardware overcurrent protection. The power panic function allows resuming printing after the power outage. Prusa Research has also implemented Input Shaper and Pressure Advance technologies into the CORE One. The former helps eliminate resonance in prints, while pressure advance is used to control the filament flow. Both technologies allow for a significant boost in print speed without losing the quality.

The Prusa CORE One is built as an all-steel exoskeleton. The enclosure is an integral part of the printer, providing it with outstanding stability and rigidity. However, maintenance is still simple, and replacing a worn part in a couple of years is easy and cost-effective. Also, the CORE One offers a true plug-and-play experience: simply take the printer out of the box, plug it in, perform a quick one-time calibration, and start printing in just 10 minutes!

Print quality

Excellent print quality has always been one of the strong points of Prusa 3D printers, and the CORE One model is not an exception to the rule. Numerous advanced technologies allow the machine to create impeccable models with smooth surface finish and sharp features at an impressive speed, with a minimum layer height of 0.05 mm.

One of the most prominent features of the CORE One 3D printer is the extruder, or Nextruder, which is a smaller and lighter version of the one used on the Prusa XL model. It is equipped with a load cell sensor that eliminates the need for manual Z-height adjustment and ensures what the company calls “always perfect first layer”. The quick-swap nozzle design allows for easy nozzle replacement.

The high-flow nozzle of the CORE One melts more material in the same amount of time resulting in increased volumetric flow without sacrificing quality for quicker print times. The machine comes with a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle which can be easily replaced with 0.25–0.8 mm for your particular needs. The manufacturer offers a Nextruder-to-V6 adapter that allows using any E3D V6-compatible nozzles with the CORE One.

In combination with the high-flow nozzle, the CORE One takes advantage of the upgraded Nextruder featuring a cooling fan with a powerful turbine and 360° air delivery. This provides excellent layer adhesion, making your prints strong and durable. Thanks to the new 360° cooling system, the CORE One allows you to print overhangs of up to 75° without supports, which significantly reduces print costs and time. This also simplifies printing flexible materials like TPU, where removing supports is often a challenge.

Materials

The maximum nozzle temperature of 290 °C, heated print bed, and active chamber make the Prusa CORE One compatible with a wide range of filaments such as PLA, PETG, ASA, PC, flexible TPU, and others. The printer can process both proprietary Prusament and third-party materials, providing the user with a wide choice of available 1.75 mm thermoplastics. Despite its high-flow extrusion system, the CORE One model does not require specialized "high-speed" filaments and can achieve impressive print speeds with standard PLA, PETG, or any of the advanced materials.

The Prusa CORE One can be enhanced by an optional add-on that allows you to print with up to 5 colors or materials at the same time — the MMU3. This is the fastest single-extruder multi-color system that is up to three times more efficient in managing filament waste compared to other similar modules, bringing substantial cost savings. With 25–35 seconds per filament change and optimized nozzle cleaning, the printing process becomes much more rapid, smooth, and reliable.

Build volume

The Prusa CORE One features a build volume of 9.8 x 8.6 x 10.6 in (250 x 220 x 270 mm), which takes up 50% less space than the MK4S inside an enclosure, yet it delivers an impressive 30% increase in print volume. The compact design allows the chamber of the CORE One to quickly reach higher temperatures (up to 55 °C), enabling you to print ASA, ABS, PC, PA (Nylons), and other advanced materials smoothly, without warping. Thanks to the automatic ventilation system and active temperature control, it is possible to print PLA even with the door completely closed!

The magnetic heated print bed (120 °C) with removable PEI spring steel sheets allows for good first layer adhesion and easy print removal. The machine comes standard with a Smooth PEI sheet, and the user can additionally purchase Satin and Textured PEI sheets.

Printer controls and software

The Prusa CORE One 3D printer is controlled via a 3.5" full-color LCD touchscreen with a clear and intuitive user interface. Furthermore, it is possible to use an optional camera for print monitoring. The entire print preparation process for the CORE One model is fast and accompanied by easy-to-follow instructions. After finishing the automatic calibration and loading a filament of your choice, you can start printing right away!

Thanks to the new xBuddy mainboard enabling Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity, one can seamlessly control the CORE One remotely via a web browser. This lets managing the printing process from anywhere using the secure Prusa Connect system or an optional mobile app. The latter allows you to print directly from Printables (Prusa’s database of free 3D models), get notified about filament changes, and set up Wi-Fi connection with a simple tap with NFC.

For maximum security, the printer can also operate in a fully offline mode. The CORE One can be configured and updated completely without internet access. The Wi-Fi module can be easily unplugged for environments that require the highest level of security.

The Prusa CORE One is recommended to be used with the open-source PrusaSlicer software with numerous useful tools such as organic supports, cutting, automated object distribution, ironing, and others. The program features timely updated and ready-to-use material profiles (over 180 in total) that ensure perfect print results with different filaments and cut down print preparation time.

Look and feel

The Prusa CORE One 3D printer is available in a black-and-orange color scheme. Its stylish look and compact footprint make it ideal for any office, workshop, study, or educational institution.

The printer dimensions are 16.3 x 17.5 x 21.8 in (415 x 444 x 555 mm). It weighs approximately 50 lbs (22.5 kg). For user convenience, the printer door opens to a full 180 degrees. The spool is mounted on the side of the machine in the designated recess that can also fit a filament drybox. In addition, the CORE One has the same recess on the other side to place various holders and organizers.
