The QIDI Plus4 is a desktop high-temperature FDM 3D printer aimed at high-speed and reliable printing experience ensured by several key upgrades of QIDI’s high-performance yet accessible machines. Alongside its enlarged build volume, the Plus4 model boasts full-auto calibration, enhanced toolhead performance, durable and precise machine drive system, active chamber heating, smart resonance compensation algorithms, and comprehensive system upgrade for better print quality and production stability. The enclosed build chamber of the QIDI Plus4 has an independent heater and can reach 65 °C, which reduces warping and delamination with high-temperature filaments, such as ABS, ASA, PC, PA, fiber-reinforced composites like PPS-CF, and more. Improved toolhead cooling system and multi-metal composite nozzle with integrated throat design
guarantee smooth and quality handling of demanding filaments. Compatible with the QIDI Box (optional), the Plus4 model also enables multi-color and multi-material printing.

The QIDI Plus4 uses a CoreXY structure which allows for extremely fast printing speeds of up to 600 mm/s and acceleration of 20000 mm/s². The open-source latest V0.12 Klipper firmware makes it possible to introduce the resonance compensation feature to reduce vibrations at high speeds. Another way to achieve faster and smoother movements is the use of dual independent motors and 10mm linear shafts and screws. The automatic bed leveling function uses a capacitive sensor to ensure the build plate flatness and good print adhesion.

To provide a streamlined experience for both beginners and advanced users, the QIDI Plus4 3D printer is equipped with multiple quality-of-life features, including input shaping for eliminating resonance in prints, filament tangle detection and runout sensors, power loss recovery function, easy-to-use removable PEI platform, built-in camera for remote monitoring, and intuitive interface. The machine supports both wired and wireless connection from a computer or mobile, with options for remote cloud access or secure LAN-only access.

In terms of software, the Plus4 model is powered by QIDI Studio providing enhanced slicing capabilities as well as QIDI mobile app ready for remote print status monitoring and control. The printer is also compatible with such popular programs as Cura, PrusaSlicer, Orca Slicer, and Simplify3D.

Print quality

The QIDI Plus4 is equipped with a powerful direct drive extruder with hardened steel gears and an auxiliary part cooling fan. The second-gen 80W bimetal hotend for advanced filament handling can reach 370 °C and provides a fast heat-up time and consistent extrusion. Thanks to its multi-metal composite nozzle with a hardened tip that offers superb wear and high temperature resistance, the Plus4 model can easily handle fiber filaments. A standard 0.4 mm nozzle can be replaced with optional 0.2, 0.6, or 0.8 mm nozzles.

Apart from the new toolhead cooling system with a larger independent hotend fan and a cutting-edge air duct design, the Plus4 model features an integrated throat nozzle structure. The latter provides improved heat transfer, reduced clogging, lower leak risk, faster installation and removal, easier filament cleaning, and swift jam resolution.

Due to the intelligent VFA resonance compensation algorithm for the XY-axis motor, the QIDI Plus4 ensures consistent print quality even at the highest speeds of up to 600 mm/s. This results in reduced ghosting and ringing issues, which makes for a better surface of the printed parts.

The reliable Core XY structure alongside 9mm 1.5GT belt upgrade, dual independent motors, and 10mm linear shafts and screws ensure precise movement positioning leading to stable and low-noise printing in high-speed mode.

 

Materials

Due to its high-temperature extruder with the nozzle heating up to 370 °C as well as Second-Gen 65° C independent chamber heating, the QIDI Plus4 can print with a wide range of consumer and engineering-grade thermoplastics, including PLA, PETG, TPU, PLA, PVA, HIPS, ABS, ASA, PC, PA, fiber-reinforced composites, and others. The printer is compatible with both proprietary and third-party filaments, which makes the choice of consumables literally unlimited.

The QIDI Plus4 can be enhanced by an optional add-on that allows you to print with up to four colors or materials at the same time. The QIDI Box is a multifilament automatic feeding box that will be available in the first quarter of 2025. Please contact us for more information.

Equipped with a 120 °C heatable platform and fully enclosed active build chamber capable of keeping a stable temperature of up to 65 °C, the Plus4 provides vertical thermal conductivity, reduced risk of warping and cracking, and higher reliability when printing with advanced filaments, such as ABS, PC, etc. The closed-box design with dual-layer insulation, balanced air circulation, and a powerful turbo fan also reduces printing noises making for quiet operation.

 

Build volume

The QIDI Plus4 offers a build area of 12 x 12 x 11 inches (305 x 305 x 280 mm) sufficient for a wide range of prototypes, artistic models, end-use parts, and consumer goods. A build volume like this lets one produce small-to-medium objects as a whole, without the need of splitting them. Larger objects can be printed in parts and then assembled or glued together.

The upgraded 6mm aluminum print bed boasts enhanced flatness for a perfect first layer with improved adhesion, while a dual-sided textured PEI magnetic build plate makes it easy to remove the printed models with a smooth and fine bottom.

 

Printer controls and software

The QIDI Plus4 is controlled via a 5" 800x480 color touchscreen with an intuitive and well-organized UI providing fast and convenient access to all printer settings and parameters.

The Plus4 model boasts Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity as well as a USB slot to transfer printing tasks from the PC to the printer through a USB flash drive. The same and more can be done through the QIDI mobile app: it provides remote 3D printer access, allows one to skip failed prints and reduce filament waste. In addition, the machine features remote monitoring and timelapse support via a built-in 1080P camera.

In terms of slicing software, the QIDI Plus4 comes with the new  proprietary QIDI Studio based on Bambu Studio by Bambu Lab, which is based on PrusaSlicer by Prusa Research. This feature-rich and easy to operate program is specially designed for QIDI 3D printers and thus offers a better 3D printing experience with the Plus4 model. QIDI Studio runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It supports the most common file formats, including STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP, and STP.

The QIDI Plus4 3D printer is also compatible with other popular slicers like Cura, PrusaSlicer, Orca Slicer, and Simplify3D.
