The Sinterit FLEXA Performance is a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) powder specifically designed for selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printing without nitrogen requirements. This light gray material has precisely defined physical characteristics: mean particle size of 70–90 μm, bulk density of 500 kg/m³, and printout density of 1.05–1.11 g/cm³. FLEXA Performance exhibits water absorption rates between 0.87–1.66% under standardized testing conditions (PN-EN ISO 62:2008). These properties establish FLEXA Performance as a technical-grade flexible material suitable for both prototyping and end-use applications requiring elastomeric properties.
FLEXA Performance delivers exceptional elastomeric properties documented through standardized testing protocols. The material achieves a tensile strength of 5 MPa (PN-EN ISO 37:2007), demonstrating excellent isotropy. Its standout feature is the high elongation at break, reaching 100 %, providing superior flexibility compared to rigid SLS materials. FLEXA Performance has a Shore A hardness of 88, positioning it as a semi-flexible material with good tear resistance. Thermal characteristics include a melting temperature range of 120–150 °C and softening point (Vicat A50) of 96 °C. The material has a 20% refresh ratio, requiring only 20% fresh powder addition to used powder between print jobs. According to Sinterit, FLEXA Performance has 100% usability. Although to keep the parameters of printouts as high as possible, the manufacturer recommends adding 20% of fresh powder each time.
*Refresh ratio is the amount of refreshing powder needed in a mixture of material used in an SLS 3D printer. Lower refresh ratio means better cost-efficiency.
FLEXA Performance serves 4 primary application categories: functional flexible prototypes, shoe components, industrial parts, and vibration control elements. The material’s high elongation at break (>170%) makes it ideal for applications requiring repeated flexing without failure, such as shoe soles and insoles. Its tear resistance and Shore A 88 hardness make it perfectly suited for production tools and grippers in manufacturing environments. FLEXA Performance excels in vibration damping applications due to its elastomeric properties combined with good structural integrity. According to technical documentation, the material is ideal for use in gaskets, flexible joint covers, vibration dampers and others where the strength of the flexible material is significant. These applications directly leverage the material’s chemical resistance and ability to withstand repeated bending cycles, making it a versatile choice for industrial components that require both flexibility and durability.
This material is compatible with Sinterit's Lisa X SLS 3D printer.
The Sinterit FLEXA Performance powder is sold in 6 kg metal containers for safe and convenient transportation.
