The Sinterit PA12 Industrial is a high-resistance nylon 12 powder specifically formulated for SLS 3D printers without nitrogen requirements. This gray matte material has a mean particle size of 62 μm, bulk density of 505 kg/m³, and printout density of 0.99 g/cm³. PA12 Industrial demonstrates exceptional dimensional accuracy and is biocompatible according to 3 ISO 10993 standards: non-cytotoxic (ISO 10993-5), not a sensitizer (ISO 10993-10), and non-irritant (ISO 10993-23). The material has a low water absorption rate of 0.22%, contributing directly to its dimensional stability in varying humidity environments. These characteristics establish Sinterit’s PA12 Industrial as a technical-grade powder for both prototyping and end-use part production.
PA12 Industrial exhibits superior mechanical properties documented through standardized testing protocols. The material achieves a tensile strength of 52.3 MPa (PN-EN ISO 527-1:2012). It demonstrates high rigidity with a tensile modulus of 1840 MPa, while maintaining limited flexibility with elongation at break of 5.86% (X direction) and 5.78% (Y direction). Its flexural strength reaches 60.6 MPa, with a Shore D hardness of 75. Thermal performance includes a melting temperature of 184 °C and heat deflection temperatures of 159 °C (X) and 161 °C (Y). PA12 Industrial has a 30% refresh ratio*, requiring only 30% fresh powder addition to used powder between print jobs. This makes for cost-efficiency of the material, as the minimum amount of fresh powder needed in a mixture is automatically calculated by Sinterit software after each print job and shown on the printer screen after the print job is finished.
*Refresh ratio is the amount of refreshing powder needed in a mixture of material used in an SLS 3D printer. Lower refresh ratio means better cost-efficiency.
The material serves 4 specific application categories: final parts, functional prototypes, jigs and fixtures, and precision-critical components. PA12 Industrial’s combination of mechanical and thermal properties makes it particularly suitable for functional parts requiring dimensional accuracy and mechanical resilience. The high flexural strength (62.31 MPa) enables manufacturing of rigid components that maintain their shape under stress. The material’s biocompatibility certification opens additional application areas in medical prototyping and consumer products where skin contact occurs. For manufacturing environments, PA12 Industrial’s low water absorption rate (0.22%) ensures dimensional stability in varying humidity conditions, while its Shore D hardness of 75 provides appropriate resistance to surface deformation. These technical properties establish PA12 Industrial as an ideal choice for production environments requiring precise, durable parts with excellent dimensional accuracy.
This material is compatible with the Lisa X and NILS 480 3D printer models and offers superior stiffness and accuracy compared to Sinterit's PA12 Smooth.
SLS polyamide powder used for 3D printing is considered particulate matter because of its size. Polyamide powder particles are generally 40 micrometers or smaller. If vacuumed in an ordinary vacuum cleaner, the powder could cause an explosion. To clean materials like PA12 Industrial, only certified industrial vacuum cleaners should be used.
The Sinterit PA12 Industrial powder is sold in 6 kg metal containers for safe and convenient transportation.
