The Sinterit SUZY SLS 3D printer is a fourth-generation compact Selective Laser Sintering 3D printing machine with outstanding print quality that employs a 30W infrared laser (λ = 976 ± 3 nm) to sinter PA12 powder into end-use parts with a minimum layer height of 0.075 mm. It achieves a 35% faster vertical print speed (20 mm/h) than Sinterit’s through optimized laser scanning patterns, while maintaining identical build volume dimensions (130 x 180 x 330 mm) to the premium Lisa X model. In combination with consistent print quality and repeatable results, the machine is ideal for both rapid prototyping and small-batch production offering performance comparable to industrial-grade machines, all while maintaining a compact footprint.

The machine’s four-zone heating system ensures uniform chamber temperatures of 210 °C, critical for consistent PA12 sintering, and operates on standard single-phase power at a 20% lower price than the Lisa X’s launch pricing, as detailed in the VoxelMatters Sinterit Printer Comparison Report (March 2025). Applications include functional prototypes requiring 0.5 mm minimum wall thicknesses for mechanical validation, medical devices leveraging PA12’s ISO 10993-1 biocompatibility certification for surgical tools, and aerospace components utilizing the material’s 140 °C heat resistance and <2% moisture absorption.

Print quality

The SUZY model achieves a minimum layer height of 0.075 mm using a 30W infrared laser (λ = 976 ± 3 nm) with ±0.05 mm dimensional accuracy, producing functional assemblies like a 12-component gear mechanism without supports. Its galvanometric scanner system enables 0.5 mm minimum wall thickness and 0.2 mm moving part clearances, demonstrated in the sample high-quality SLS 3D printed model below.

  1. Collector pipes connected by an internal cutout – demonstrates SUZY’s ability to print intricate geometries in PA12 without supports.

  2. Threaded nut with rotating connection to a chain – validates functional moving part precision with minimal post-processing.

  3. Threaded pipe end – showcases thread accuracy for mechanical assemblies, confirming ISO-compliant fit.

  4. Movable chain – printed in a single job, highlighting SUZY’s capability for articulated assemblies with complex features.

  5. Engraved inscription – demonstrates 0.075 mm layer height resolution for fine surface details.

  6. Curved flat surface – confirms superior surface finish and enhanced repeatability compared to FDM/FFF technologies.

Vapor smoothing reduces surface roughness from Ra 12–15 μm to Ra 3–5 μm, creating watertight seals capable of holding 2.5 bar pressure for 24 hours, as validated in Sinterit’s fluid dynamics tests. The printer’s four-zone heating system maintains 210 °C chamber temperatures with ±1.5 °C stability, ensuring uniform PA12 sintering across its build volume.

Materials

The SUZY is exclusively optimized for powder with a particle size of 50–70 μm, achieving a 35% faster print speed (20 mm/h vertical) and 60% lower material costs compared to the Lisa X. This optimization stems from a redesigned laser scanning pattern and reduced refresh rate requirement (30% vs. 50% in prior models) ensuring minimal powder waste.

PA12 Industrial exhibits 48 MPa tensile strength (ASTM D638) and >140 °C heat deflection temperature (ISO 75), enabling functional components like automotive ducting tested to 15,000 vibration cycles at 50 Hz. The material’s durability, <2% water absorption (ISO 62), and UL 94 HB flammability rating make it suitable for electrical housings exposed to 80% relative humidity.

The SUZY’s nitrogen-controlled chamber maintains a controlled environment with <0.1% oxygen levels, reducing powder oxidation to <0.5% per print cycle. This ensures consistent mechanical properties across reuse cycles, with tensile strength deviation <2% over 15 reuses (Sinterit Material Longevity Study, 2023).

Key metrics:

  • Density: 1.01 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)

  • Elongation at break: 15% (ISO 527-2)

  • Powder refresh rate: 30% (vs. 50% in Lisa X)

  • Layer adhesion strength: 42 MPa (Sinterit Interlayer Testing, 2024)

This focused material strategy enables SUZY to produce end-use parts like ISO 10993-1-certified surgical guides with ±0.15 mm dimensional accuracy across its full build area.

Build volume

The SUZY provides a large build volume of 130 x 180 x 330 mm (5.1 x 7.1 x 13 in) tailored for production and prototyping with a maximum diagonal of 398 mm (15.7 in), matching the Lisa X’s capacity. This accommodates 14 automotive gears (Ø25 x 10 mm) or 6 full-size smartphone housings (160 x 80 x 8 mm) per print job. Combined with a 20 mm/h vertical print speed, SUZY produces 30 functional prototypes (50 x 50 x 50 mm) in 16.5 hours, achieving 2.3x higher throughput than the Lisa Pro.

Printer controls and software

The SUZY model features a 9” capacitive touchscreen (1280x800 resolution) with direct access to 12 printer parameters, including chamber temperature (±1 °C adjustment) and laser power (10–100% modulation). Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), USB 3.0, and Gigabit Ethernet, supporting simultaneous data transfer rates up to 1.2 Gbps. The system boots in 23 seconds and runs on a Linux-based OS optimized for real-time process control.

SUZY operates via Sinterit Studio v3.2 (Windows 10+), which includes:

  1. Auto-nesting algorithm: Reduces build height by 18% on average, enabling 14 automotive gears per job vs. 10 with manual placement.

  2. Layer preview: Displays 0.075 mm slices with 5x zoom for defect detection.

  3. 32 adjustable parameters: Laser power (30W max), scan speed (2–7 m/s), and layer cooling time (5–30 sec).

  4. REST API: Integrates with factory systems using OAuth2 authentication and JSON payloads.

  5. Remote monitoring: 1080p camera stream with <200 ms latency via Sinterit Cloud Portal.

Sinterit Studio Advanced adds:

  • Mirroring: Duplicates parts with 98.7% dimensional accuracy for batch production.

  • Print simulation: Predicts warpage within ±0.1 mm using FEM analysis.

  • ATEX compliance tools: Generates safety reports for explosive atmosphere certifications.

The Sinterit Studio software processes .slc files (8-bit grayscale) with 25 μm voxel resolution, achieving <0.5% volumetric error in stress simulations (Sinterit Material Science Report, 2024).
