Thor3D Calibry 3D scanner | Reasonable Price | Full Color Capturing | Up to 3 million PPS
Calibry is great! Less expensive than the competition but can work with larger objects and DOES IT FAST. I liked a large (around 4 in) screen as well. The manufacturer claims that the device can work with dark objects. We adjusted brightness and tested it on some darker surfaces, it's far from foolproof, but adjusting settings makes a substantial difference.
There are drawbacks, of course: scanning the objects smaller than 15-20 inches is pointless, there will be too much noise and excess stuff. The machine is also wired, which I think is a weird choice, they could've easily used batteries. The cable is around 15 feet long, so enough for interior use but problems can arise if you need to scan something outside.

Pros:
Affordable, convenient, free software and 2 year warranty
Cons:
A powerful PC is required to make the post-processing faster

We bought Calibry several months ago. We weren't sure where to start since we didn't have any experience with the tech. But a 2-hour long training course helped. After a couple of days, we started getting a hold of how 3D scanning works and asked some questions in the process. Now it's hard to believe that there were times when we didn't use the scanner for our gaming projects.
Great tool for video game visualization. We managed to scan people and cars.

I was choosing between the Artec Eva and the Calibry 3D scanner and I landed my choice on the Calibry due to a number of reasons: 1. larger field of view, making the process for scanning large parts such as a car body easier and faster, 2. support of markers alignment, once again making the process for scanning large parts easier and faster. When I had a demo scanning a car that didn't have enough well-defined geometry, Eva struggled, but on Calibry we switched to the markers mode and the scanner didn't lose tracking as much as the Eva did, 3. the price is 2 times cheaper, 4. the software is free and Calibry doesn't require you to pay yearly maintenance fees to stay up-to-date with their software.
I believe Eva's main advantage is their software, it's faster than Nest by Calibry, and offers way more options for mesh-editing. For our projects Calibry and Nest are sufficient though, I am very satisfied with the results. It does an amazing job at completing our visualization projects and acts as a good visual guide for some of our reverse-engineering initiatives (it's not as accurate to support full-on reverse-engineering though, we rely on manual measurements for such jobs, but Calibry scans act as a visual guide for curves and how the parts interconnect).
