The Unitree Robotics Go2 Edu is a smart bionic quadruped robot that is similar to a real pet thanks to advanced spatial orientation, motion, and behavior algorithms. Being an upgraded version of the original robot, the Go2 boasts an improved recognition system, enhanced AI, reliable motors, powerful battery, and simplified programming. Just like its predecessor, the Go2 Air amazes with its budget-friendly price for the consumer segment.

Available in four versions — , , Edu, and  — the Unitree Go2 takes into account all categories of users. The Go2 Edu is an advanced model aimed at the education and research market. It includes the basic configurations with a more powerful battery, built-in 4G module, voice intercom, integrated eSIM, smart OTA upgrade, APP graphical programming, and more. It is also compatible with several additional devices listed in the Add-ons & Extras section. For a machine with simplified functionality, check out the other two options.

The Go2 bionic robot combines a lightweight and flexible design, intelligent obstacle recognition system, smart power management, evolving AI capabilities, and simple controls via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which makes it great for a number of personal and special applications, including recreation, training, business promotions, education and research, industrial use, and more.

 

Capabilities

The Unitree Go2 Edu is equipped with a self-developed 4D LIDAR L1 ultra-wide recognition system with a viewing angle of 360 x 90°, super small blind spot, and a minimum detection distance of 0.05 m. In combination with HD cameras, this greatly adds to the robot’s real-time navigation capabilities and helps it trace the optimal route even in complicated environments, efficiently avoiding obstacles. Compared to the previous model, this technology is 200% efficient.

Another unique feature inherited from the original Go1 robot is the intelligent side-follow system, which has also been upgraded to version 2.0. By adopting the new wireless vector positioning and control technology, the positioning accuracy is now technically improved by 50% allowing the robot to effectively traverse complex terrain. The remote control distance has been extended to over 30 m for greater autonomy.

The motor performance of the Unitree Go2 is enhanced by 30% with a peak joint torque of 45 Nm, new internal trace connecting technique, and heat pipe coolers to decrease temperature effectively. Thanks to these changes, the Go2 can safely perform a variety of complex moves and tricks, such as jumping, stretching, shaking hands, cheering, pouncing, sitting down, and dancing. The four legs and 12 degrees of freedom ensure the robot’s stability on different terrain types and allow it to walk up and down the stairs with ease.

With the integrated GPT functionality, the Go2 is able to better understand the user and make decisions based on the circumstances, which it can vocalize through the voice module (available for Pro and Edu versions only).

The improved power management system allows the robot to reach an incredible speed of up to 17 km/h. Equipped with a battery with increased capacity up to 8000 mAh (a 15000 mAh battery is optional), the Go2 can stay active for longer periods and complete numerous tasks together with the user. To improve motor efficiency, power, and stability, a voltage has been increased to 28.8V. In addition, the Go2 can autonomously use a brand self-charging station.

 

Operation and controls

The Unitree Robotics Go2 comes in three modifications, namely Go2 Air, Go2 Pro, and Go2 Edu. While sharing the same appearance and mechanical construction, the models differ in hardware and programming capabilities. The Unitree Go2 is operated via the remote controller. The basic functions can be performed with the help of the label controller which can be easily placed in a pocket due to its compact size. There is also an opportunity to remotely control the Go2 even when it is out of sight via the mobile app. Due to graphical programming, it is easy to operate the robot by dragging, dropping, and connecting various commands regardless of the user’s skill level.

With your permission, the Unitree Go2 can automatically connect to a cloud-based OTA service to upgrade its programs and continuously improve the user experience.
