The Chinese-based Unitree Robotics company is known for its high-performance quadruped robotic dogs. To make the quadrupeds even more functional and enhance their application range, the company has designed a collaborative robotic arm that is compatible with their two robotic dogs, namely the Aliengo and B1 models.
The Unitree Z1 robotic arm comes in two versions with the only difference in weight and maximum payload. The lighter Z1 Air model features the maximum load capacity of 2 kg and weighs 4.1 kg, while the 200 grams heavier Z1 Pro can carry 3–5 kg.
The robotic arm can be used independently or mounted on the Unitree Aliengo, B1, or other mobile robots, which significantly expands their capabilities and allows performing complex tasks. The Unitree Z1 can be equipped with interchangeable end effectors, such as a gripper, a screwdriver, suction cups, and others.
Consisting of four segments, the arm features six joints with a maximum torque of 33 Nm equipped with harmonic reducers and cross roller bearings providing reliable operation and accuracy of 0.1 mm. The maximum joint rotating speed is 180°/s.
The rotation limits of the joints are as follows: J1 ±150°; J2 ±90°; J3 ±90°; J4 ±160°; J5 ±90°, J6 ±162°.
The Unitree Z1 robotic arm can perform a variety of tasks connected with picking and sorting objects.
Being equipped with a screwdriver, the Z1 can work on the assembly line.
It is even accurate enough to pour you a glass of wine.
Mounted on a quadruped robot, the Z1 arm becomes a mobile functional manipulator that can be employed wherever it is needed.
The working range of the Unitree Z1 is 700 mm.
