The Anisoprint Smooth PA is a carbon fiber-filled nylon developed by the Polymaker company specially for the use with the and 3D printers featuring the proprietary Anisoprint CFC (Continuous Fiber Co-extrusion) technology of printing with continuous fiber reinforced filaments. The Composer printers are equipped with a dual extrusion system featuring a plastic and a composite extruder where composite carbon or basalt fiber is coated with a melted polymer matrix, and the reinforced filament goes through the nozzle to print a part.

The Smooth PA is a high performance easy-to-use filament which is great for printing strong durable functional models with a perfect surface finish. It is recommended to print at 250–270 °C using an abrasion-resistant nozzle, such as the Composer hardened steel nozzle (0.4 or 0.6 mm). The recommended print speed for Anisoprint machines is 40–50 mm/s. To ensure the best adhesion of the first layer, the print bed should be properly calibrated and heated up to 55–60 °C. Higher values are not recommended as that may result in part warping.

The advantage of the Anisoprint Smooth PA, compared to other nylon filaments, is its low moisture absorption which means it can be printed without an active dryer, although for longer prints drying at 60 °C is recommended by the manufacturer.

The Anisoprint Smooth PA is an excellent choice to be printed with the plastic extruder in CFC Anisoprint 3D printers, in combination with the Anisoprint CFC PA filament used in the composite extruder as a polymer matrix. The Smooth PA is great for printing exterior perimeters of the part, delivering superb surface quality.
