The Autodesk Fusion 360 Nesting & Fabrication Extension adds advanced possibilities for nesting and fabrication to the Manufacture and Design workspace in the Fusion 360 software, creating optimized and associative multi-sheet layouts for cutting on CNC machines.
The extension provides the opportunities to create customizable reports, nest parts from multiple documents, and specify part rotation constraints thus increasing efficiency of the manufacturing cycle. Its comprehensive tools allow the user to save time and material and to significantly increase productivity.
The Nesting & Fabrication extension integrates into the Manufacture and Design workspace in Fusion 360, significantly expanding its functionality by adding the following features:
Allows you to arrange objects on multiple sheets and control object orientation allowances.
Prepares your model for nesting and sets nesting parameters per material for optimal stock usage. Provides the opportunity to specify the types of objects in the design, such as sheet metal, sketches, or selected entities, which you want to include in the nest.
Allows setting and managing the materials and packaging you want to use in your nest studies.
Sets global nesting defaults for components and adds parts that are not in the current design to your nest.
Creates nest studies with multiple nest alternatives, so that you can preview and arrange the parts.
Allows you to configure and view the key metrics, like cost, material usage, and stack size, for cost estimation.
Exports sheets to DXF or MSI file formats. DXF (AutoCAD) format is used with a CAM package in AutoCAD to generate toolpaths, or with third-party CAM software. MSI (TruNest) files are compatible with Autodesk's dedicated nesting TruNest software.
A preset is a set of materials and packaging that you can load into your project. This function allows creating, using, and sharing presets of commonly used materials and packaging.
Below you will find an example of creating a new nest study in the Nesting & Fabrication Extension.
The Fusion 360 Nesting & Fabrication Extension adds advanced nesting capabilities to the Fusion 360 software. The extension will be of great help to manufacturers, as it allows optimizing production cycle and considerably reducing costs.
