The CHT BiMetal M6 nozzles from Bondtech are 3D printing nozzles designed for high-flow applications with abrasive materials. Crafted from nickel-coated brass with hardened vanadium steel inserts, they boast enhanced wear resistance alongside high performance. Similar to the original CHT nozzles, this upgrade features a special Core Heating Technology allowing it to melt the material faster and more efficiently. The devices are available in four diameters (one unit per pack). The desired option can be selected in the Add-ons and Extras menu.
As RepRap style nozzles (M6 x 1.0 threads with a 7 mm thread length and 12.5 mm overall length), the Bondtech CHT BiMetal nozzles offer universal compatibility and can be used with both 1.75 and 2.85 mm hotends. The full list of the supported devices is provided below and in the Specifications section.
Apart from the mentioned benefits, the Bondtech CHT BiMetal nozzles are machined with ultra-precision, which makes them perfect for accurate and stable printing. Thanks to rigid construction and multiple diameter options, they can be effectively applied in manifold spheres.
Compared to the standard brass Bondtech CHT nozzles, the BiMetal variant is more productive and durable thanks to the combination of copper with hardened vanadium steel inserts. This is what makes them so efficient when printing with abrasive materials at higher flow rate.
The Bondtech CHT BiMetal nozzles are based on the original Core Heating Technology. They split the filament into three thinner strands, which allows it to melt from within. Due to this method, the material melts faster, ensuring flow rate gains between 25% and 65% (the results may vary depending on the hardware, materials, and print settings applied).
Thanks to a nickel coating, the CHT BiMetal M6 nozzles have increased protection against corrosion, erosion, and abrasion. Another benefit is a lower coefficient of friction providing smoother feeding of the material and reduced adhesion of filament to the surface of the nozzle.
Based on the refined filament-splitting technology, the CHT BiMetal nozzles prevent potential problems with cold or atomic pulls as well as retraction issues. For example, the following video demonstrates a skull printed with a 0.6 mm CHT nozzle using 0.6 mm as retraction distance:
As RepRap style nozzles, the CHT BiMetal devices are fully compatible with the following hotends / hot blocks:
Furthermore, they are optimized for 1.75 mm filament, but can also be used with 2.85 mm hotends.
No cold change
Being a soft material, copper is sensitive to strong mechanical impact. Before removing or tightening the Bondtech CHT BiMetal nozzles, heat them up to 280 °C or at least above 250 °C. Recommended torque is 0.5 Nm (not more than 1.0 Nm).
Fiber-loaded filaments
For carbon or glass-fiber loaded abrasive materials, it is recommended to use only 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 mm nozzle sizes.
Particle-loaded filaments
Dealing with metal, wood, glitter, or other particle-loaded filaments, it is better to use the 0.4 mm nozzle.
The price for the Bondtech CHT BiMetal M6 nozzles is $39.99, which is reasonable considering their reliability and high performance.
