The Bondtech LGX extruder is a powerful filament feeder designed for smooth and consistent 3D printing. It features the manufacturer’s new Dual Drive technology that provides increased performance thanks to larger drive gears for maximum filament grip and smart pre-tension mechanism that makes loading and unloading the material really simple. Due to its versatile mounting hole patterns, the LGX boasts flexible setup and almost universal compatibility, while the device’s thoughtful construction ensures long service life and easy maintenance.
Being a compact, easy to use, and highly adaptable extrusion system, the LGX is available for Bowden and Direct Drive setups as well as for special applications. Thus, in one of its configurations, the device can become a full-fledged printhead where the heat break fits directly in the extruder for a shorter filament path, which enables it to print ultra-flexible filaments with an impressive speed.
Apart from the standard LGX variant, the Bondtech extruder comes in several printhead setups, which represent the combinations of the Shortcut and ACE add-ons with the extruder itself. Also, there are some upgrade kits and accessories to choose from. The desired options can be selected in the Add-ons and Extras menu. To find out more about the LGX add-ons and accessories, check out the sections below.
Due to innovative design, enhanced performance, and high integration capabilities, the Bondtech LGX extruder will become a game-changing 3D printing tool for hobbyist makers, corporate professionals, and full-blown manufacturers.
Despite its compact and lightweight design, the Bondtech LGX is based on elaborate mechanisms that ensure high-quality printing at each stage. Compared with earlier versions, filament is now driven with more teeth engaged to achieve increased grip. To prevent potential extruder damage, this grip is sufficient to overcome the stepper motor torque if a blockage occurs. Also, the unique pre-tension mechanism streamlines material loading and unloading.
To make the LGX extruder as durable and reliable as possible, Bondtech uses the housing parts that are professionally printed with nylon for maximum strength, precision, and higher temperature resistance.
The Bondtech LGX extruder is manufactured to be a direct fit for the Mosquito and Copperhead hotends by Slice Engineering. It can be easily combined with the following devices:
The LGX add-ons are compatible with the following RepRap style nozzles that can be used for various purposes:
Please note that the LGX Shortcut Hotend is not compatible with the 3DSolex Matchless 1.75mm nozzles.
The Bondtech LGX extruder is engineered with high accessibility and ease-of-use in mind. For example, it has maintenance windows to facilitate cleaning procedures for the drive gears. In addition, a multi-function interface socket makes for tool or application quick swap.
The extruder comes with everything one needs to start 3D printing right after receiving the package, including a set of dedicated tools and information brochure. Moreover, the LGX extruder is delivered in environmentally-friendly craft boxes without bleaching and coating.
The LGX Shortcut is a special hotend add-on that mounts to the side of the LGX extruder to form a highly effective printhead for dealing with all common materials, especially soft and flexible ones. It includes a reversible heat sink that can be installed on the left or right side of the cold block. With a dedicated hole pattern, it is possible to attach 40x40 fans to cool down the cold block and cold zone of the heat break.
The Shortcut add-on comes in two variants: Copperhead and Mosquito. In the table below, you can see the benefits of each version:
The LGX ACE is an add-on attachment that mounts to the front of the LGX extruder. It represents a special short filament path hotend, co-developed by Bondtech and Slice Engineering.
The device’s different variants, such as Mosquito Magnum+, Mosquito, and Copperhead, are designed for rigid, flexible, and soft materials, improved cooling capacity, and high-flow applications.
The LGX Lite is a smaller version of Bondtech’s filament feeder based on Dual Drive technology with larger drive gears. It weighs only 48 g individually and 141 g with the Nema14 pancake stepper motor.
The list of available accessories for the Bondtech LGX extruder includes a wide variety of upgrades and parts used to successfully integrate the device into certain 3D printers, such as Creality, Prusa, Artillery, etc.
