The CreatBot PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is an organic semicrystalline thermoplastic featuring exceptional mechanical properties and high chemical and thermal resistance. Due to its outstanding performance, PEEK is often used as a lightweight metal substitute featuring comparable strength and better corrosion and chemical resistance than many metals and metal alloys.

PEEK is a biocompatible and chemically inert material which allows it to be increasingly used in medicine for printing patient-specific implants and other medical appliances. Surgical instruments made from PEEK withstand various sterilization methods. It is also FDA approved for food contact and can be used for food and beverage processing. Among other advantages of PEEK there are low water uptake, flame retardancy, radiation resistance, and excellent electrical properties. All this makes PEEK thermoplastic an indispensable material for various industries, including aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, energy, electrical and electronics, medicine and dentistry, and many others.

As a high-performance thermoplastic, PEEK requires certain printing conditions, high nozzle temperature being the first of them. It is recommended to turn off the cooling fan while printing PEEK for proper crystallization. The recommended printing parameters for the CreatBot PEEK filament are as follows:

• Nozzle temperature: 400–450 °C
• Bed temperature: 120–150 °C
• Chamber temperature: 70–120 °C
• Layer height: 0.1–0.15 mm
• Print speed: 20–40 mm/s
• Cooling fan: off
