The E3D Titan is a compact, lightweight yet powerful and adaptable extruder designed for high-performance and high-speed 3D printing. It boasts universal compatibility due to its versatile NEMA17 mounting, a variety of flexible set-ups for different purposes, remarkable gearing ratio, reliable all-metal construction, and budget-friendly price, making it perfect for a wide range of uses and applications. From high-definition prints with tiny nozzles to high flow rate extrusion, the Titan can handle almost anything.
Apart from the Bowden, direct, 1.75 and 2.85 mm options, there are two main variations — standard Titan and Titan Aero. The latter represents a compact direct drive HotEnd and extruder combination, which effectively combines the lightweight performance, reliability, and usability of the V6 and Titan creating a more compact and refined unit. Compared to the same combo in a direct drive setup, the Aero version offers an extra 25 mm of Z-axis build height.
Despite its compact and lightweight design, the Titan comes with an elaborate gear reduction, precision-milled hobbs, and an adjustable idler lever ensuring high pushing force even with light motors.
Unlike extruders with high gear ratios, the Titan boasts a balanced 3:1 ratio, which allows it to cope with rapid retracts and high flow extrusion systems like E3D Volcano. Apart from this, its light structure ensures quick and responsive movement.
In contrast to regular direct drive extruders that often provide a wavy surface finish with low layer heights, the E3D Titan features a 3:1 gearing ratio, which triples the resolution of the system resulting in smoother printing even with the smallest nozzles.
In conjunction with multiple configurations, the Titan provides universal NEMA17 mounting, which makes it compatible with a remarkable range of 3D printers and custom mounting solutions. Plus, one can always switch between filament diameters by simply replacing the filament guide and Bowden adapter (sold separately) or HotEnd.
Thanks to the adjustable idler’s tension and universal size, the Titan can print almost any filament available. With the precise CNC-machined drive teeth, it is capable of handling even high-density metal or carbon-filled consumables with effectiveness and ease.
One of the main benefits of the Titan is also a short, fully constrained material path with less room for filament to bend, buckle and jam, which makes the extruder ideal for smooth and consistent printing with flexible filaments like TPU.
The Titan is engineered with high accessibility and ease-of-use in mind. Thus, the teeth of the drive gear are shaped specifically to shed any filament debris making the extruder practically self-cleaning. In addition, the Titan can be quickly dismounted in just a minute with an allen wrench, with a quick disassembly and assembly if required.
The extruder comes with everything one needs to start 3D printing right after receiving the package, including a set of dedicated tools and screws.
