The Shining 3D Einstar VEGA is a compact wireless handheld 3D scanner providing comprehensive object scanning at an affordable price. The model is engineered with two light sources, combining the infrared VCSEL and MEMS scanning technologies in a single device. As a completely wireless solution with built-in computing and internal data archiving, VEGA does not require a powerful PC. A part of the advanced Einstar series, VEGA boasts high-resolution accurate scans and fast acquisition speed. Scan accuracy

The resolution provided by the Einstar VEGA varies depending on the selected scanning mode. In Fast Mode, the point distance is 0.5–10 mm. HD Mode allows you to create point clouds with a point distance of 0.05–3 mm. Thanks to its powerful hardware configuration including an 8-core 2.4GHz CPU, 32GB RAM, and 512GB SSD, VEGA is able to create accurate scans at an impressive speed, yielding professional-grade results.

Scanning modes

Combining two scanning technologies in one device, the Einstar VEGA offers two scanning modes. The HD Mode based on the infrared MEMS light source is meant for high-detail scanning of small to medium-size objects and features a scanning speed of up to 15 FPS. The Fast Mode is realized through the VCSEL projector. It is designed for medium to large-size objects and provides a scanning speed of up to 20 FPS.

The Einstar VEGA offers four alignment methods to choose from — namely, feature, markers, texture, and hybrid.

Scan volume

The Einstar VEGA features two powerful light sources, which makes for a flexible scanning range for rendering objects of different sizes. The scanner’s working distance varies from 100–250 mm in HD Mode to 350–1500 mm in Fast Mode. This allows VEGA to effectively capture both small and large objects, from a float for a fishing rod to a real-size motorcycle without a loss of precision and detail.

Scanner controls

To begin using the Einscan VEGA 3D scanner, just turn it on and start scanning, no cables or PC needed. You can see your scans with outstanding clarity on VEGA’s 6.4" 2K AMOLED touch-sensitive screen.

Before the first use, you need to complete the calibration process, following the built-in software prompts. Once you’ve calibrated the device, you can proceed with scanning.

The Einstar VEGA 3D scanner comes with a beginner-friendly ergonomic design, which enables one-click processing with automatic configuration selection and efficiency improvement.

Software

Featuring USB Type-C and lightning-fast Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, the Einstar VEGA 3D scanner can export scans in the most common file formats, such as PLY, OBJ, STL, and ASC. Due to the access to the Shining 3D Digital Cloud (each user gets free 5GB of storage space), one can share their creative ideas in a single touch.

The device comes with the proprietary StarVision PC software, which is an ultimate solution for 3D data management and post-processing. Featuring multiple OS compatibility (Windows and macOS), the program provides advanced options for effective data editing, measurement, storage, sharing, and collaboration. Overall, it boasts user-friendliness, enhanced flexibility, and increased work efficiency.
