The FAIRINO FR5 is a 6-axis collaborative robot designed for compact industrial settings, offering ±0.02 mm repeatability via a self-developed real-time control system. Its browser-based WebAPP enables graphical programming, reducing deployment time compared to PLC-only systems. Certified for global safety and compliance (CR, CE, ISO 10218/13849/15066, etc.), the FR5 supports fast, application-specific deployment through its FR+ ecosystem of palletizing, bin-picking, welding, and CNC-tending solutions. Key specs include a 5 kg payload (7 kg max), 922 mm reach, IP54 body (IP65 optional), and <65 dB noise level. It's tailored for SMEs in electronics, logistics, machine tending, and light fabrication, offering precise motion, easy integration, and a compact footprint.

What is the payload capacity and working radius of the FAIRINO FR5?

The FAIRINO FR5 cobot has a 5 kg payload, with a 7 kg maximum for extended loads, which require reduced speed or range.

FR5 load curve graph showing payload in kg versus center of gravity offset in mm.

The FR5 has a 922 mm working radius, limited by joint ranges: J1 ±175°, J2 +85°/−265°, J3 ±160°, J4 +85°/−265°, J5 ±175°, and J6 ±175°. These allow overhead and downward approaches while preventing over-travel. Integrators can programmatically set or query joint soft limits via the controller.

Operators can hand-guide the FR5 using Drag mode via the button box or HMI, with status shown on the end LED. Collision sensitivity is adjustable per axis (levels 1–10 or custom), and post-collision response can be set to stop or continue. The system supports protective-stop types 0/1/2 and emergency stops that decelerate or cut power instantly. Force/torque sensors enable guarded motion and collision detection using the FT_Guard command.

What installation and setup requirements does the FAIRINO FR5 have?

Mount the FR5 on a flat, rigid base rated for 5x its mass and 10x J1 torque, isolated from vibration sources. Use four M8 bolts (≥20 Nm) with Ø8 mm locating pins for accurate positioning — add pins for high-precision tasks.

Technical diagram of part created by fairino fr5 shows dimensions, grounding point, outlet port, and geometric details with precise measurements.

The FR5 uses either the AC MINI Controller 2 kW or DC MINI Controller 2 kW (30–60 VDC input). Check the nameplate, ground the system, and use quick connectors for wiring.

Maximum Input (for customers to configure the front-stage power supply) Maximum Output (maximum output peak)
DC 2kW 30–60VDC/30A 2000W/48VDC/41A
DC 5kW 30–60VDC/40A 5000W/48VDC/104A
AC narrow voltage 2kW 176–264VAC/10A/Single Machine/50Hz 2000W/48VDC/41A
AC wide voltage 2kW 100–240VAC/10A/Single Machine/50–60Hz 2000W/48VDC/41A
AC wide voltage 5kW 100–240VAC/16A/Single Machine/50–60Hz 5000W/48VDC/104A

Ensure cabinet ground resistance is ≤1 Ω and use code-compliant wiring — ≥4 mm² copper or ≥16 mm² aluminum if unprotected. Digital I/O runs at 24V; the controller supplies up to 1.5–2 A internally, or use EX24V/EXON for higher loads. Safety I/O must be dual-channel per ISO. After mounting, connect the robot–controller umbilical, button box, and power lead, then release the E-stop and power on.

Robot wiring schematic diagram

Connect via Ethernet to the button-box port and set the PC to 192.168.58.xx (not .2) with subnet 255.255.255.0. Go to 192.168.58.2, enter the control-box SN to activate, power-cycle, and log in (default admin) to access the WebAPP. Check the end LED status (green = Manual, blue = Auto), then perform basic checks: enable, jog, test E-stop response, verify I/O terminal tightness, and ensure the control-box air filter is clean.

What maintenance requirements does the FAIRINO FR5 have?

The FAIRINO FR5 requires 15+ inspection and maintenance procedures to preserve mechanical integrity, electrical safety, and placement accuracy across monthly, semi-annual, and annual intervals; FAIRINO publishes a time-based checklist for the robot arm and for the control box/teach devices.

Fairino FR5 collaborative robot arm setup, components including emergency stop, control panel, and wiring, all labeled for identification and assembly.

Arm checklist (rear covers, screws, rubber rings, cables / cable links, base mounting bolts, and end-tool mounting bolts)

Check item Monthly Semi-annually Annually
1 Check joint rear cover * V
2 Check joint rear cover screws F
3 Check joint rubber ring V
4 Check robot cables V
5 Check robot cable links V
6 Check robot base mounting bolts * F
7 Check end tool mounting bolts * F

Note: F = Functional check, V = Visual inspection, * = Must be checked after severe collision.

Controller / teach pendant / button-box checklist (E-stop, safety I/O, mode switching, pendant cable, control-box air filter, terminal tightness, ground resistance ≤1 Ω, and main power checks)

Check item Monthly Semi-annually Annually
1 Emergency stop button on test button box (teach pendant) F
2 Safety input and output functions on the test terminal strip F
3 Detection button box start/stop, mode switching function F
4 Test button box (teach pendant) cable V
5 Check and clean the air filter on the control box V
6 Check whether the terminals of the control box are firm F
7 Ground resistance of detection control box ≤1Ω F
8 Check the main power supply of the control box F

Note: F = Functional check, V = Visual inspection.

Operational maintenance (between scheduled inspections)

With power off, inspect the robot–controller cable, fasteners, joints, and seals. Clean the arm with water, isopropyl alcohol, or 10% ethanol/naphtha — never use compressed air. Minor grease at joints is normal. In harsh environments, clean more often and replace rubber rings as needed.

Preventive maintenance (monthly & semi-annually)

Inspect joint rear covers, screws, rubber rings, cables, and links. Torque-check base and end-tool bolts. On the controller, test E-stop, verify safety I/O, check start/stop and mode switching, inspect the button-box cable, clean the air filter, ensure firm terminals, confirm ground resistance ≤1 Ω, and check main power supply condition.

Comprehensive maintenance (annually)

Repeat full arm and controller checks. Test functional safety by triggering the E-stop — confirm the robot stops and joint power is cut — then re-enable and verify safety I/O remains active. Visually inspect the robot if stored for over 6 months.

Skills and tools

Mechanical checks (covers, seals, fasteners) must be done by a technician using a torque wrench per spec; FAIRINO requires torque verification on specified bolts. Electrical checks (safety I/O, terminals, power) must be done by a qualified technician with power off; ground resistance must be ≤1 Ω. Use an ESD vacuum — never compressed air — for cleaning inside the control box.
