The Intamsys HIPS (high impact polystyrene) is a 3D printing filament that can be used either for support structures building, or for the creation of finished products. As support material it is used for printing models with complex geometries, featuring cavities and overhanging elements as well as for assembled parts.
HIPS is a strong yet lightweight thermoplastic with excellent physical and mechanical properties. It shows low water absorption, good dielectric characteristics and chemical resistance. It is not prone to shrinkage and is easy to print with.
Being used for support structures, the Intamsys HIPS provides stable support for the model. When printing is over, supports can be easily removed manually or dissolved in limonene without damaging the surface of the model. The manufacturer recommends dissolution for PC-printed models, and manual removal for other compatible plastics.
The Intamsys HIPS 1.75 mm support filament is sold in 1 kg spools. It comes vacuum-sealed with desiccant.
