Print quality

The Original Prusa SL1S SPEED model can print layers with heights ranging from 10 to 100 microns due to the printer’s completely redesigned optics and new monochrome display technology. Engineered with a powerful 5.96" monochrome LCD with a physical resolution of 2560 x 1620 p, the device provides a vastly improved print quality compared to its predecessor. Thus, one can produce accurate models with smooth exterior surfaces and a high level of detail.

To further improve quality and stability of printing, the SL1S model is built with a rigid, heavy aluminum body, which minimizes vibrations and ensures the best possible performance even when printing thin and highly detailed geometry.

Moreover, the printer is equipped with a quick-release mechanism that maintains the Z-axis calibration, meaning there is no need to recalibrate the machine when the platform with the print is removed.

Materials

The Original Prusa SL1S SPEED 3D printer features universal material compatibility. Build volume

The Original Prusa SL1S offers a large build area of 5 x 3.15 x 5.9 inches (127 x 80 x 150 mm), which is 25% bigger compared to the SL1 model. This lets you produce a single large model or a wide variety of small-to-medium sized prints in batches without the need of splitting them, which makes for time-saving and increased productivity.

According to the developer, the largest object that fits in the printer’s build area can be finished in under 4 hours with 0.05 mm layer height or in 2 hours with 0.1 mm layer height. This is also possible due to the faster tilt of the print bed compared to the SL1.

Printer controls and software

The Original Prusa SL1S SPEED 3D printer features USB, Wi-Fi, and LAN connectivity. It can be easily controlled through a web browser or convenient full-color touchscreen with a clear menu structure and user-friendly interface. The on-screen Assisted Wizard will guide you through the whole setup and calibration process.

The device is powered by the internally developed and regularly updated PrusaSlicer software offering a number of useful tools, such as hollowing, automatic support generation, easy object manipulation, and others. With ready-to-use factory-tested material profiles, the program ensures perfect results with different resins and significantly reduces print preparation time.
