Designer X is the first professional FDM printer launched by the Russian company Picaso 3D. As part of the X lineup, it shows a full-metal, closed-box body. The rigid structure ensures stability and durability. It also reduces vibrations during printing. It arrives pre-built and ready to print. It is equipped with a special extruder able to heat up to 410°C. The high operating temperature allows reliably printing with a variety of complex materials.
It features an integrated Flow Control that adopts a thoughtful feature-set for smart control. It can detect and automatically fix the most common printing issues, such as nozzle clogging, tangled filaments, breakages, and more. In this way, it dramatically reduces the risk of printing defects and failures.
Designer X is successfully used in prototyping and small-scale manufacturing. Have a deeper look at our review to find out more.
Top 3D Shop team has been asked to create a one-meter long HA-420 HondaJet model. To carry out the tricky task, the team 3D scanned a small metal model of the jet available at the HONDA factory. The post-processed 3D model has been then printed with ABS using either a Hercules Strong 2017 and a Picaso Designer X 3D printers. This picture shows the accurate, final result. Mission accomplished.

The Designer X is an FDM 3D printer that can print layers at 10 microns. It can reach a printing speed of up to 100 cm3 per hour. This way you can produce parts with smooth exterior surfaces in rapid times. The enclosed chamber prevents stringing and warping, while the firm structure ensures high printing accuracy and reliable results.

Designer X has a 0.3 mm nozzle, giving you the best balance between speed and detail.
Look at the following model. It is extremely rich in detail and well-defined.

The print head runs on rods with linear bearings, making the design more simple, lightweight and effective, all characteristics that are desirable in a 3D printer.
Thanks to its high operating temperature, the Designer X can print with a wide range of complex-to-print filaments, such as ABS, PLA, HIPS, PVA, ULTRAN 630, ULTRAN 6130, ASA, ABS/PC, PET, PC, FRICTION, CAST, RELAX, ETERNAL, FLEX, RUBBER, SEALANT, PETG, AEROTEX, CERAMO, WAX, SBS, SBS PRO, PROTOTYPER SOFT, PRO-FLEX, TOTAL PRO, NYLON, PEEK, and other materials.
The extruder comes with a fan for printing with PLA-type materials. By cooling the model down, it reduces warping, stringing and, generally, makes for higher quality prints.
We have tested its capability by printing a new frontal cover for a vintage radio. Look at its surfaces and edges. They are really neat and well-defined.

Unlike many FDM printers, Designer X has a heated print bed and closed print chamber, which means it can reliably print with ABS-type materials. The bed can heat up to 140°C.
The extruder has a maximum working temperature of 770 °F (410 °C), which means it can print high-temperature materials like PEEK, ABS/PC, PEI, carbon fiber, and glass fiber.
The Designer X prints with 1.75 mm filament, providing you with a wide choice of materials.
The build area of 7.9 x 7.9 x 8.3 inches (200 x 200 x 210 mm) lets you print just about anything, even the one-meter long HA-420 HondaJet above mentioned.

The printer is controlled via PC or the built-in LCD interface.
3D models can be printed from computer via Ethernet, USB.
The printer is compatible with Polygon X software. It works with STL and PLGX 3D models. The software is available for Windows. Mac OS X and Linux users will have to install a virtual machine or other software.
