The Piocreat G5 is an industrial-grade 3D printer based on the FGF (fused granulate fabrication) technology — a type of material extrusion AM process, similar to FDM printing. FGF 3D printers work with thermoplastics in the form of pellets, or granules, which are loaded into a hopper, fed to the screw-type extrusion system where they heat, and the molten homogeneous plastic mass is extruded through a nozzle to build a model. Since plastic filaments used for FDM 3D printing are made from pellets, utilizing pellets directly for building parts makes FGF printing incredibly cost-efficient for numerous industrial applications.
Being the most compact of the Piocreat FGF machines, the G5 still boasts a sizable build volume and impressive print speed of up to 100 mm/s. Dual Z-axis lead screws with dual tie rods reduce vibrations and allow for stable high-precision printing. The in-house developed screw extruder ensures strong feeding force and uniform continuous extrusion reaching a maximum volume of 400 g/h. To ensure strong layer adhesion and avoid part deformation during printing, the G5 print bed features auto leveling function with a BLTouch sensor. In case of a sudden power outage, the printer pauses, and automatically resumes printing once the power is back on.
One of the advantages of pellet printing is rapid material change, which allows combining various plastics in a single project. Besides, quick color change is possible by adding masterbatch to the granular material at any moment of the printing process.
The Piocreat G5 pellet 3D printer finds its use in a lot of fields, such as architecture, furniture and interior design, education, industrial part manufacturing for automotive, aerospace, machinery, and other industries, mold fabrication, and more.
The Piocreat G5 can print at a layer height of 0.2–1.0 mm. Its high-temp extruder is equipped with interchangeable nozzles from 0.8 to 2.0 mm in diameter and can heat up to 450 °C. The rapidly heated print bed with a maximum temperature of 150 °C helps reduce warping and allows printing with a wide range of thermoplastics.
The Piocreat G5 prints with plastic pellets of 2–5 mm diameter and is compatible with a wide range of thermoplastics, including high-temp and engineering materials. It can process PLA, PETG, PVC, ABS, PC, PA, HDPE, TPU, EVA, fiber-reinforced composites, and others.
The G5 build volume of 500 x 500 x 500 mm allows for printing large parts in one go. Despite its industrial-grade build chamber size, the machine is rather compact for an industrial 3D printer and can be regarded as a benchtop device.
The Piocreat G5 is operated via an LCD touchscreen. Printing tasks can be transferred to the machine on an SD card or from the PC via a USB connection.
The Creality Print software is recommended for file preparation. This popular slicer features all the necessary editing tools and supports STL, OBJ, AMF, and 3DMF file formats. It is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
