Push Plastic ASA (acrylic styrene-acrylonitrile) is a high-grade 3D printing material that has a lot in common with ABS — in fact, these thermoplastics can be interchanged and are frequently used for professional applications. The key features of ASA, however, are its incredible UV and weather resistance. Unlike ABS-based models, the ones made from ASA can handle direct sunlight without getting brittle over time. Thus, this virgin resin-based filament is perfect for making products intended to be used outside — in open areas with a certain degree of sunlight exposure (e.g. spare parts for your car or a quadcopter).
All of the other mechanical properties of ASA are slightly better than those of ABS. However, ASA costs slightly more too, so if you don’t plan on using your models outside and they won’t be exposed to sunlight, you might want to consider buying ABS instead of ASA.
Printing with ASA is a lot easier than with other filaments. The material is extremely resistant to warping and features a reliable first-layer adhesion. In addition, it is free from impurities and produces a smooth flow, without making bubbles or clogging the nozzle. The shelf life of ASA is 12 months. The filament is successfully used to produce small, medium, and large high-quality products.
The Push Plastic ASA is sold in 3kg spools. It comes vacuum-sealed with desiccant.
