Raise3D Premium ASA (acrylic styrene-acrylonitrile) is a high-grade 1.75mm 3D printing material produced by Raise 3D. It has a lot in common with ABS — in fact, these thermoplastics can be interchanged and are used for related applications. The key features of ASA, however, are its incredible UV and weather resistance. Unlike ABS-based models, the ones made from ASA can handle direct sunlight without getting brittle over time. Thus, the filament is perfect for making products intended to be used outside — in open areas with a certain degree of sunlight exposure (e.g. spare parts for your car or a quadcopter).
All of the other mechanical properties of ASA are slightly better than those of ABS. However, ASA costs slightly more too, so if you don’t plan on using your models outside and they won’t be exposed to sunlight, you might want to consider buying ABS instead of ASA.
Printing with ASA Premium is a lot easier than with other filaments. The material is extremely resistant to warping and features a reliable first layer adhesion. In addition, it is free from impurities and produces a smooth flow, without making bubbles or clogging the nozzle. The shelf life of ASA Premium is 12 months. The filament is successfully used to produce small, medium, and large high-quality products.
The Raise3D Premium Black ASA is sold in 1kg spools. It comes vacuum-sealed with desiccant.
