The Roboze ARGO 500 is a large-scale industrial 3D printer capable of handling most demanding high-performance polymers and composites. These materials are successfully used as a more lightweight substitute for metals and metal alloys when high mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties of the finished part are required.

The ARGO 500 belongs to the Production series of Roboze industrial 3D printers and, as the name suggests, features a sizable 500 x 500 x 500 mm build volume, being the medium-size machine in the series, which also includes the and models. The ARGO 500 was designed as a truly industrial tool allowing for highly automated efficient workflow and remote operation and control of the printing process. Due to the integrated B&R PLC system, the machine saves all the information and parameters during each print and creates a data log helping certify every printed part. The remote maintenance modules help minimize downtime and allow for automatic software updates. The automated printing process also includes auto bed leveling and extruder calibration, automatic material loading, and filament runout detection.

Based on the patented Beltless System which uses XY direct mechatronic movement with rack and pinion gears instead of conventional rubber belts, the ARGO 500 provides high mechanical precision and repeatability of printing results. The high-temperature HVP dual extruder ensures continuous flow and allows printing with high-viscosity polymers. To prevent model deformation and shrinkage, the build chamber of the ARGO 500 provides homogeneous heating up to 180 °C. Polymer print sheets held on the print bed with a vacuum are used to improve first layer adhesion.

The models below were printed with Roboze Helios PEEK 2005, featuring low thermal and electrical conductivity, high temperature resistance, and superior surface finish.

Print quality

The high-precision kinematics of the ARGO 500, combined with a high-performance extruder and thermally controlled build chamber, as well as a heated print bed with auto leveling make for industrial-grade print quality of dimensionally accurate, highly detailed models with smooth surface finish, and ensure high level of repeatability. The XY printing accuracy is 10 microns and the Z accuracy is 25 microns.

The high-performance double extruder with 0.4 and 0.6 mm diameter nozzles heats up to 450 °C, allowing printing with engineering thermoplastics and composites such as PEEK, Carbon Peek, Carbon PA, Ultem AM9085F, PC, Functional-nylon, ABS-ESD, PP, Flex-TPU, Strong-ABS, and Ultra-PLA. Roboze produces a wide range of high-performance filaments perfectly compatible with the company’s industrial 3D printers.

Build volume

The ARGO 500 build volume of 500 x 500 x 500 mm makes the machine suitable for producing large models or batches of smaller parts. Ideal for both prototyping and final part manufacturing, the ARGO 500 is used in a variety of industries such as aerospace, automotive, motorsport, oil and gas, and others where mechanical properties and chemical, water, or abrasion resistance of models, as well as tight tolerances are a priority.

Printer controls and software

The printer is operated via an 11" touchscreen and has USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity options. Automated operation and control functions allow for a highly efficient end-to-end manufacturing cycle.
