The Rostock Max V4 is a legendary DIY 3D printer kit. Born from an Indiegogo campaign (which raised over 750% of its original goal), today this 3D printer is rated as one of the best budget 3D printers by 3D Hubs.
Measuring 385 mm in height and 270 mm in diameter, its build volume is one of the largest in its class. Machine assembly offers a great learning experience, and most importantly, there is a huge fan community to support you along the way! On, and don’t forget about the numerous mods and upgrades that let you customize the machine for each project.
Having been designed as the Delta style robot system, this machine offers increased printing speed and laser-like accuracy. As we’ll demonstrate below, these capabilities have been put to great use – from a custom build of an electric guitar to a full-sized Iron Man suit.
One creative studio has developed a model and printed the necklace of Melissandra from the series of “Game of Thrones”. Indeed, the Rostock Max V4 will be a great assistant for any cosplayer!
The next example is a functioning electric guitar. It was built by the head of the SeeMeCNC assembly department.

Rostock Max V4 prints with ABS, PLA and other materials. While the V4 comes with the standard EZR Strude, there are also some major upgrades. Carbon fiber arms are stronger and lighter, resulting in higher precision and better print quality. Three cooling fans enable stable quality prints with PLA.
Here’s an amazing vase built with Carbon Fiber PLA. It's just short of 14 inches tall. The change of colors was achieved using a black to green transition material.

And here’s the trident of Poiseidon. Where does this glowing come from? It comes from the translucent PLA filament.

To ensure high reproducibility, we recommend installing an enclosed print chamber. This way the print quality would not be affected by temperature fluctuations as a result of drafts and other factors.
The Rostock Max V4 Full Kit prints with 1.75 mm filament, providing you with a wide choice of materials.
The build area of 10.8 x 10.8 x 15.2 inches (275 x 275 x 385 mm) lets you print just about anything. Even the Iron Man suit. The suit was built separately in parts and then assembled together. The remaining question is when will we be able to 3D print a miniature arc reactor?

The printer is controlled via the 5” touchscreen.
3D models can be printed from a computer via WiFi or USB. The printer has an Accel probing feature which allows you to calibrate the printer with a single click!
The printer works with the Cura software. It is available for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux.
