EinScan-SE is a desktop-based 3D scanner manufactured by Shining 3D. It adopts the structured light 3D scanning technology for safer use. It comes in a compact and portable package, you’ll only need to unbox it and put the main units together. You will be ready to scan in less than two minutes. Considering its price/performance ratio, it has been awarded “Best Value 3D Scanner in 2019” by All3DP.
EinScan-SE is the Elite model of the EinScan lineup. It is the counterpart of the EinScan-SP, the higher-end EinScan’s Platinum model. Sold at an affordable price, it can scan objects both with or without color through two monochrome cameras. It is easily accessible and simple to use. The auto-calibration features and the two scan modes (fixed and auto) provide high accuracy and versatility.
The scanner works at a decent speed. It is able to perform a single scan in 10 seconds and a complete, 360-degree scan from 1.25 min to 11.45 min, depending on the step size selected for a full rotation (from 8 to 180) and the HDR settings used. The multiple scans can be easily aligned by the dedicated software.
EinScan-SE is currently employed by professional designers, makers and online sellers for multiple uses, including reverse engineering, digital cataloging, and more. Keep on reading for a deeper review.
One user 3D scanned an authentic canteen of the Second World War belonging to the Wehrmacht (German armed forces until 1945). The canteen has been digitized in four shots. Look how accurate and finely detailed it is.

EinScan-SE is a professional desktop 3D scanner with a single shot accuracy of 0.1 mm. It is able to detect a variety of colors and textures delivering accurate geometries and good quality scans. The scan is sensitive to the light and works better in darkness. Shiny objects, glass or transparent surfaces cannot be scanned.
The EinScan-SE is equipped with a standard tripod thread. This gives you the possibility to mount it to an optional tripod for steadier scans of fixed objects or faces.
The automatic scan setting lets you capture objects up to 200 x 200 x 200 mm, while the fixed scan mode can reach up to 700 x 700 x 700 mm.
The scanner is controlled via a USB-tethered computer.
The scanner comes bundled with the official, simple-to-use EinScan software. It features an intuitive interface that will comfortably guide you to the scanning and editing process. Also, it provides ready-to-print mesh files compatible with the majority of 3D printers. You can export them with a high, medium or low polygon resolution. The software is really stable but its calculating speed strongly depends on your computer specs. According to All3DP, it is able to finish a mesh with 2-million triangles in 15 minutes with an Intel i7-4829K and 3.70GHz. It offers several fully-automated features, including automatic calibration, one-click scanning, auto-meshing to watertight 3D models, auto-alignment and fusion for direct mesh generation. It enables Cloud access for online file saving and sharing.
