Tiertime UP300D 3D Printer

The Tiertime UP300D is a modification of the Tiertime UP300 FDM 3D printer with the difference in the extruder setup. While the UP300 comes with three interchangeable single extruders for different types of filament, the UP300D, as the name implies, is equipped with a dual extrusion system for multi-material printing, including building soluble support structures for models with complex geometries. This dual extruder is the proprietary Tiertime technology, featuring two stepper motors and two filament feeding channels for alternating extrusion of two different filaments through a single nozzle. A single-nozzle setup eliminates the need for nozzle alignment calibration. The dual extruder can be replaced with a high-temp (300 °C) single one, which comes with the printer, or an optional low-temperature single extruder for printing PLA, PETG, and flexible materials.

The Tiertime UP300D comes stock with two swappable build plates, one with perforated surface for materials prone to shrinkage, and the Flex board for low-shrinkage filaments such as PLA, PETG, or TPU. Both build plates are reversible and have a glass side which can be also used for printing.

The UP300D features 9-point auto bed leveling using a leveling probe. The user can also calibrate the print bed manually. To keep the filament dry, the internal filament compartment maintains the constant temperature of 55 °C. The UP300D is equipped with an efficient dual air filtration system including HEPA and activated carbon filters to eliminate any toxic fumes and ensure a safe printing environment.

These soluble supports would have been difficult, if not impossible, to remove by hand.

Print quality

The Tiertime UP300D can print layers with a minimum height of 50 microns. Due to the fully enclosed heated build chamber, the printer can reliably print with ABS-type filaments, producing dimensionally accurate models with a decent level of detail. The use of dual extrusion allows creating complex multi-material models, and parts with easily removable soluble support structures.

Materials

The Tiertime UP300D is an open-material system compatible with 1.75 mm filaments with printing temperatures up to 300 °C. For best results, the manufacturer recommends printing with the proprietary UP Fila materials. The dual extruder is equipped with a 0.4 mm nozzle, while having switched to a single-extrusion printing, the user can choose from 0.2 / 0.4 / 0.5 / 0.6 mm nozzles depending on the material and model requirements.

Build volume

Equipped with a build volume of 205 x 255 x 225 mm, the Tiertime UP300D is suitable for various professional applications in engineering, dental, educational, R&D, and other industries. The printer is equally good for prototyping and short-run production.

Printer controls and software

The Tiertime UP300D is operated via a 4.3" color LCD touchscreen. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB. The printer supports the Tiertime Print Queue function which allows multiple users connected to the same network to send tasks to the machine.

The recommended software is UP Studio, developed by Tiertime specifically for their printers. The slicer supports dual-material printing and provides advanced editing tools and setting adjustments. It also features a basic ‘plug-and-play’ mode for those who want to start printing right on the spot.
