Creality CR-200B Overview

The Creality CR-200B is a desktop FDM 3D printer that offers a decent build volume of 200 x 200 x 200 mm (7.9 x 7.9 x 7.9 inches) which is more than enough for prototyping and household use. The printer is fully enclosed, which helps prevent undesired temperature fluctuations and expands the range of printable materials. Besides, it makes the whole printing process much safer. You can learn more about the advantages of enclosure by reading this article.

The CR-200B is supplied in a fully assembled state, removing any play that could’ve been caused by improper self-assembly. It can print at a minimum layer height of 100 microns, which is typical for most FDM 3D printers of its price segment. Moreover, the printer offers intuitive controls and is extremely easy to use, making it a good choice for inexperienced makers or those who want to try out the wonders of 3D printing without investing too much. The printer also boasts a plethora of other essential features that will be reviewed below.

Design

Talking about its appearance, Creality CR-200B can be described as a neatly-looking 3D printer with a refined outlook. Its frame offers a classic black and white design with transparent see-through doors to let you always stay on top of the printing process.

Its outer dimensions of 411 x 435 x 503 mm (16 x 17 x 19.8 inches) and weight of 16 kg (35 lbs) make it a medium-sized machine that would be a perfect fit for almost any kind of workbench, while its authentic appearance completes the scenery and makes the CR-200B a fine addition to your 3D printing setup.

Applications

Printing at a minimum layer of 100 microns, the Creality CR-200B can create precise and dimensionally accurate outputs while going hand in hand with affordability.

Its build volume of 200 x 200 x 200 mm lets you print a single medium-sized model or simultaneously produce a few smaller ones in one go. Thanks to being equipped with an all-metal extruder that can be heated up to 260°C and a Carborundum-coated print bed, it can reliably print with high-temperature plastics including ABS and other similar materials no matter the manufacturer. All in all, the CR-200B is a perfect device to produce tabletop miniatures, prototypes, end-use parts, souvenirs, props, cosplay accessories, and much more.

Smart Features

Enclosed build chamber

As we have already mentioned, the Creality CR-200B is a robust 3D printer that features a full enclosure.

Aside from providing additional safety and helping to keep kids and animals at bay, its enclosure lets you work with engineering plastics with high shrinkage such as ABS, HIPS, and Nylon. Besides, it contributes to fighting delamination by providing uniform heat dissipation, not to mention additional noise, dust, and odor protection.

 All-metal extruder

The Creality CR-200B is equipped with a wear-resistant Bowden extruder and a powerful ventilation system to provide optimal thermal conductibility and heat dissipation.

Featuring a single nozzle that can be heated up to 260°C to make the printer suitable for a number of both entry-level and professional applications, this high-end kit delivers a streamlined printing experience and pushes out the filament through its 0.4 mm nozzle in a smooth and precise fashion. Moreover, Bowden-type extruders are easy to replace. They are faster, more accurate, and account for a reduced number of filament tangling issues as compared with their direct drive-powered counterparts.

The Creality CR-200B features a tempered glass build plate that can quickly heat up to 100°C, providing additional layer adhesion and expanding the range of printable materials. Renowned for its wear resistance, warping prevention, and facilitation of print removal, this Carborundum heat bed can be truly considered one of Creality’s best inventions.

Ultra-silent operation and reliable power supply

Powered by a fail-safe power supply and ultra-silent mainboard chipset, the machine delivers consistency, provides additional comfort, and allows for continuous and quiet printing sessions even at nighttime.

Filament runout sensor and resume printing function

Coming in with a duo of must-have functions every quality FDM 3D printer should be equipped with, the CR-200B offers a smart filament runout sensor.

To be more precise, the system unites both of the above-mentioned features into one, pausing the printing process automatically after there is no more material to print with or after a filament breakage has occurred. After the problem is fixed, the printing will continue precisely from where it left off. Needless to say, this is one of the most important features to have in case you want to print big and don’t want to reprint a large model from scratch if some of such filament-related errors occurred.

Easy-to-use touchscreen

The printer can be controlled via an easy-to-use 4.3-inch touchscreen with a neatly-looking UI. It displays all the necessary printing information in real-time, making for an indispensable tool for streamlined standalone operation. Besides, it provides you with complete control over the printing process and helps adjust all the important settings on the fly.

Online printing and real-time remote control

Aside from featuring USB and SD card connectivity, the CR-200B can be controlled with the cloud-based Creality Box application. This neat addition lets you create backups, access an online 3D models library, and control your printer remotely using Wi-Fi.

Internal lighting system

Last but not least, there’s a built-in LED-powered lighting system to provide a thorough illumination of the build area to let you see your prints come to life even if you found yourself in some under-illuminated premises. Besides, this lighting system is not power hungry at all.
